Why did Spesh spec 2.35 tyres for the SL? To save weight?

I it would make sense if that were the reason, I went to maxxis DHF/DHR and the only difference I notice is the improved traction - I don't count grams though. Not obsessively anyway...

Yeah, im in the process of deciding which tyres to get. Either Mary 2.4 and Nobby nic 2.3 or a maxxis variant 2.5wt up front and aggressor of HRII 2.3 rear. Finding tyres at the moment is a nightmare!

I mounted MAXXIS MINION DHRII 29x2,4 3C Maxx Terra front and back on 30mm wheel. Didn't drive better tyres in my life . Previously I had Nobby nick 2.6, can't compare, they are not even close to DHRII 3c .. Traction control, braking, tarmac, roots, fire roads, mud...much better in all conditions. I can be like 20 percent faster and still feel safer.
