Levo Gen 2 1st Gen Levo Mullet Conversion

Just broken my front rim on my ‘17 Levo and considering replacing it with a 29er. Currently I’m running a 160mm fork, so I’m anticipating lowering it to 140-150. Anyone with experience doing the mullet conversion on a 1st Gen Levo? Impressions?

I have a 29x2.6 Assegai on my 2018 Levo and I like it. It is taking me some time to get used to it as the front is so stuck to the ground and I don't have the confidence to really load/use the front to it's full potential. Speed through root gardens has dramatically improved.

What fork and travel setting are you using? I wouldn’t want to slacken mine anymore than it is with the 160mm

I have 150 and am going to 160, I have 15mm stack under the stem to lower it if I need.

Update-
Put on the 29” front wheel. Derby i40 in the front with Eddy Current 2.6. Left the fork at 160mm. Measurement between the two wheels seems like the front is about 10mm higher. Test ride to come and I might lower the fork 10mm to get back to where it was before the mullet-ization.

A little off topic but what shock are you running on you’re Levo
I have a 2017 fattie and I’m looking at up grading my shock

I have two variations of the same shock. When I bought the bike it can with a BikeYoke on it, so I was able to run a 190x51 DVO Topaz shock. Recently I found a good used identical DVO shock but with the Specialized mount for the stock yoke. It was too good a deal to pass up, $100. So basically I have a backup shock as well now.

Option 1: If you want to run a shock with a standard length (7.5"x2.0", 190mmX51mm) then you want this shock yoke that will let you do that.

Option 2: There are brands who make shocks in the Specialized size, (197x47.6), that works with the stock yoke. Fox and Rock Shox have ones, as does DVO ( which has become my preference due to adjustability) Topaz T3 Air Shock – DVO Suspension
Replacement shocks for the stock yoke are the same shocks that are used on the Stumpjumper of the same generation.

I trolled Pinkbike and came across the Specialized specific DVO shock. Deals are to be had if you take your time.
