hey all long time no see hope you're doing good.
my '19 Levo has been going well until the motor disintegrated a few weeks ago. well out of warranty now obvs and shop I bought out from is no longer a Spesh dealer.
where to start on a replacement? everything else on the bike is ok apart from rear wheel bearings a bit flaky, not high mileage for its age.
tyvm.

(motor symptoms - bike freewheels forwards with motor turned off and on, I rode it home under my own steam no problem. won't freewheel backwards, strong resistance after say 50cm of movement. motor makes a whirring noise for a second on first couple of pedal strokes then no noise.

something as simple as the drive belt has broken or disengaged?).

thanks.

anyway bit of a lazy post, will do some searching.
am based in SE England (Surrey) if any dealers/repairers nearby!

I think you are describing a sprag clutch bearing failure, which I've had 4 of :)

Similar to above would also recommend ebike motor centre, and if keeping the bike I'd suggest the "brose upgrade service" which includes that and various other bits. Also 1yr warranty. £180 ish. You are close enough to do a "while you wait" visit which is what I did but need to book it in a few weeks in advance.

A new motor is about £850 from a dealer. Ebike motor centre also sell them cheaper than that though.
