170mm fork on a Rail

I see that the 2021 9.9 has a 170mm Zeb fitted as stock. I have a 2021 9.8 and I'm thinking of fitting a 170mm air spring.

Is anyone running 170mm forks on a Rail? Is it a big improvement?

I put a 170mm Smashpot coil conversion in my Lyrik and now, combined with 160mm cranks, I have less pedal strikes!

Because I've gone coil as well it's hard to determine if 170mm is better or is it just the amazing coil effect!?

We run the RXF 36 170mm along with the Ohlins coil shock on our Levo SLs. It's a nicely balanced bike that can ride down any trail I have ever put it on. I like the Ohlins RXF better than my FOX 38 Factory if that means anything.

If you are using a rock shox fork on your Rail, I highly recommend the 170mm air shaft (cheap upgrade). The Debon air design is crap (sram). The updated design is a little better at maintaining ride height but still not great. I switched to a Fox 38 170mm several years ago. My new Rail came with a Zeb 160, but I bought another 38 to replace it before even riding the Zeb.

Did it make you faster Jason?

(Sorry, someone had to do it ;))
Honestly my lap times are not any faster with the 38 vs yari with 170mm air shaft. The 38 feels and works much better though, especially banging rock gardens in the mountains. I imagine the ZEB also works well.

Have had 170 mm spring on my 9.7 with Yari for a year now and I like it better. Can highly recommend going for the 10 mm increase at least on the previous geometry Rails

Nice bike! Still got it?
Can I ask which spring you have got on that bike? Looking for a black one for the TTX m2.

Thanks! Yes I do. I have to say I am not sure which bike I like better, my Kenevo SL or the Levo SL for the kind of riding I do. My Levo SL has a Cane Creek Valt 2.25x600 coil with a Cascade Component suspension link on it.

Zeb ultimates are awesome ran a 170mm on my slayer for a year, now I've slapped a 180mm shaft in for my deviate and and have a 190mm on my voima.

One of my mates is running 170 zeb on his rail and another us running 180 38's on his rail.

Ran a 170mm spring in my MY23 Zeb Ultimate 2022 Rail alloy and didn't like it. Now have a MY23 Lyrik Ultimate 160mm with Trutune which I really like. But don't get more then 3-4' air tbh.
