Other 1.8” Crown Race

Good morning all,

Prior to posting this new thread I’ve trawled through multiple other looking for an answer to this simple question.

I own a 2024 Rail 9.5 and bought a pre owned Zeb fork as an upgrade, but when I came to swap over the original fork crown race I found it was too small to fit over the steerer.

Spec from Trek Website:
OCLV Mountain Carbon main frame, 1.8'' lower head tube.

On further investigation I noticed that the original fork steerer diameter was 1.5” and the crown race had a larger land that effectively reducing the inner diameter and converting the 1.5” steerer to accommodate a 1.8” bearing. All very confusing and annoying as the Bike Spec states it has a 1.8” bottom steerer bearing, and so you would have thought the fork would also have a 1.8” crown race.

So naturally I’ve search the Interweb for a replacement and have only found one on the Trek Website, trouble is they have no stock.

Does anyone have an idea where I can find one of these as currently I can’t fit the new shock.

Thanks

Sorry pal, no idea what you mean…are you offering me a 27.5” compatible Zeb fork with a 1.8” lower tapered steerer diameter? Does the fork have a 1.8” crown race attached? If not I’m in the same situation, but with a fork that needs modification back to 29er?

Can you elaborate please?

I bought a 29 zeb fork but the seller forgot to mention it’s only compatible with the trek fatter 1.8 crown and refused a refund stating I didn’t ask , so I used the 29 lowers on my 27.5 crown and so have a spare Trek 1.8 tapered fork with 27.5 lowers which are completely effing useless to anyone as Trek don’t make 27.5 bike anymore !
If it confused you , that’s exactly what I felt like for weeks trying get it sorted out 😂😂
Tbh you can have them for free as I’d be glad to get them outta my life 🤪

#lazy…I feel your pain mate. That’s exactly what happened to me! But unless the fork has a 1.8” crown race fitted on the steerer I’m buggered because my old forks had a 1.5” OD on the bottom steerer with a 1.5” to 1.8” converter crown race so that they fit in the oversize Trek head tube. I need a 1.8” crown race and can’t find one anywhere!

This specifically

Oh well , I put it at the back of shed and forgot all about it until now and it’s winding me up again 😂
It didn’t come with the crown race so can’t help you 👍

I can’t be sure…the title says 1.8”, but the description says 1 1/8”. I might give them a call and ask. Thanks for taking the time to try and help out though.

Regards

No problem, whenever I see a post where someone can't find an item I take the challenge 😁
The measurement shown, 45.8mm, equates to 1.8" not 1 1/8" so figures crossed.
