I've had my EP801 powered Polygon Collosus n8e for four months now and have ridden everything from flat xc trails, black diamond rocky/rooty hills, and man made jump lines. Short bike review, it's awesome. Very stable on the down hills, playfully maneuverable in the twisties, maintains traction...
I've been riding a couple of bikes with the Bosch CX motor and once I get over 32km they feel like hitting a wall. I've briefly ridden the Giant (Trance & Reign 2023 models), Shimano EP6 and 8 (not EP801) motors and don't recall as much resistance over the speed assistance limit but then I...
Back in 2021
I wanted to have assist up to 32km/h, which turn out is not working good for me, so I did reverted back to 25km/h
I did that using eTuning | Ebike Tuning App for Shimano Steps Motors
Now a days I got the original SM-PCE02(reasoning why got is bellow) and when I connect I got error...
After 2 years, my EP8 has a kind of grinding when riding.
Removed and cleaned the pedals, cranks and chainring, no help so it comes from inside the motor.
Is it bearing noise?
edit: the motor gave in after 3 months of having this noise, no longer providing support.
The Panasonic motor can only be found on one emtb brand, Flyer. At least that's the case where I live. We've been riding a Flyer Uproc X 8.70 for a few weeks now. This bike has the newly updated Panasonic GX Ultimate motor. Watch the video for a detailed review that illustrates the motor...
Canyon take emtb releases to a new level. They’re launching three new 2024 emtbs in one go. There’ll be just a short segment about the Grand Canyon:ON at the end of the article. We’re here for the full suspension bikes, the properly updated Torque:ON and the new Strive:ON.
We had a Strive:ON on...
The Tazer MX carbon is the latest emtb from Intense. Some might say this isn’t new, but you’d be wrong, and you’d be right. See our video review of the bike or keep on reading below.
The Intense Tazer MX is based on the original 2019 frame. When the Tazer was designed, the only internal...
I have and orange phase Ep8 2022 with a sc en600 computer unit, Im having trouble with linking the Bluetooth with the E-TUBE app. Does the sc en600 have Bluetooth?? If not what do I need to connect it to a pc/laptop.
We’ve had a couple of encounters with the new EP8 motor already. We rode it on a Yeti, and it was so quiet. Despite riding on frozen and noisy surfaces, we were quite confident this motor was silent.
Watch the video of our ride on the new Shimano motors, or keep reading below.
Shortly...
I apologize, I did not write an article based on this this interview. It was just too long. You'll have to suffer through all the 24 minutes of video to catch my interview with Nick, MTB Product Manager for Shimano America.
We talk about ebike motors in general, and we talk about the new EP8...
Automatic shifting, on an emtb, who asked for that? I never found an automatic transmission in a car that shifted the way I wanted. Why would this work on an emtb? Check out my video, or keep reading below.
Well, riding no-hands I forgot about shifting. Coming through corners and into steep...
Almost 2 years ago, Shimano introduced Linkglide.
With lots of new innovations focusing on life span which is theoretically three times longer and shifting smoothness and performance.
Whilst this was great news for EMTBers, it did mean that the vast and expansive shimano range became even...
Shimano recently introduced the new EP801 and EP600 drive units. With a host of efficiency, controller and usability upgrades and hopefully, some reliability upgrades these seem like a great choice if you are tempted to choose a bike fitted with a Shimano drive unit.
More information on the...
I had the chance to look at the new Shimano EP8 (EP801). It was a cold and icy day, which wasn't perfect, but it's not like I could decline the opportunity. I try to illustrate how silent it is in my video. Check it out or keep on reading below.
Rattle and hum?

Hi All.
I've written the below novel about my experience with power dropouts/cutouts on my Shimano Steps e7000 system. My bike is a Merida e160 5000 (2020). Hope you find it informative or whatever.
I bought the bike second hand and was 100% fine for a year. I used it regularly for commuting...
The Shimano EP8 is a 2.65kg and 85Nm motor that is used on many full power emtbs. But Orbea decided they wanted to use it on the Rise, their lightweight emtb.
The Orbea Rise was released with a 360Wh battery. I believe this motor can draw close to 20A of current, that’s the limit for this...
Shimano has announced the new EP6 and an updated EP8 motor. But there are more changes happening. Let's have a look at what's listed on the Shimano website for 2023.
The motors
There are 4 emtb motors out on the Shimano website; E7000, EP6, EP8 (EP800) and EP8 (EP801). Shimano has a habit of...

Hello i'm new here. Just looking to find out if i can fit a Sram GX DUB crankset to a shimano EP8 motor. It currently has stock shimano eMtb cranks with the chainring lock ring that needs the tool LRT2. Will the GX crankset fit straight in or is it not compatible? Thanks👍🏼
