Tbh mine is 23kg with 700wh battery and is superb…not a porker and lively on trail even compared to my 16kg Geometron
plus being lanky 500 reach on the CL is a bit short for me now I’m used to bikes that actually fit…
Get a 2021 or 2020 Kenevo with 4 year motor warranty…el cheap…around £4-£4.5k then spend on getting a Zeb 180/29 up front and shove a 29 in back or 27 if mullet is desired and bingo…best handling DH and all mountain bike out there with best warranty out there …
Proper BB height for a long...
Recommend Alex at Emotor repairs…he did what he could with my E8000 and helped with Madison. However as my unit in summer was full of water it was sadly a cold case job.
btw I never jetwash, am very careful etc. Think I was perhaps unlucky looking at other’s experiences…
There will be those who are lucky and those like myself that are not. It seems those that post are the lucky ones ;-) Or those that bike ( lucky you) in drier climates than South Wales.
If you have an EP8 do not be tempted to use ST Unlocker as this will be picked up by Madison (UK) and they...
My favourite motor of those I’ve tried from Mahle SL to Bosch (all generations since small CR) and E8000 for pure natural feel, ability to tune to your body and riding needs is the Spesh Brose mag 2.1/2.2 (Having ridden both versions).
Im a personal fan of “full fat “ so haven’t tried fazua...
Surprised anyone touched your motor as the Shimano is well known to brick so many service centres such as PLB won’t touch it…apart from Alex of course. Glad you’ve had a better time than others including myself.
imho all Ebike motors used in wet, muddy, sandy conditions will eventually go wrong...
So….I’ve been in a email trail with Madison in the UK over my out of warranty experience.
I used STUnlocker (super software) and when I could use on private land set to the USA unit setting that gave a very useful additional 4mph assistance…still within unit tolerances as this is the USA...
Not my experience at all…maybe my motor had covid as was during that period ;-)
I’ve emailed Madison asking why the variations in support rather than a consistent Service Level. I don’t expect a reply mind. It’s not Shimano in uk the wholesaler are Madison and the EP8 etc are a tiny bit of...
No such luck for me…
my e8000 was awful from the beginning to end. 1500 miles and it finally gave up two months out of warranty.
madisson finally and very reluctantly gave me a motor…for £550.
This is why I will not and have not gone Shimano again. Random and tbh poor support from Madisson...
I wonder if Spesh are looking at this thread thinking “…maybe a long travel full fat eMtb is in demand….”
I suspect such bike may emerge in 2023 …maybe even without Brose hence the delay in development/release ?
whatever they release I’m still utterly blown away by the flexibility and handling...
You can look online for various offset bushing Solutions.
the amount of difference comes from size of mounting bolt. You’ll need to give details of the shock, I.e bolt diameter (M8/6) outside diameter of the bushing and length of the bushing.
Try offsetbushings.com
Hope this helps
Of interest what kind of slight noise ?
All Motors make a noise so with Brose what led you to think it was just more than normal operating noise ?
If you 180 up front and flip chip on yoke to low BB will be a bit higher still, personally I think higher BBS on long travel eMtb aren’t an issue...
Maybe flog the boxxers and go for Zeb ..may still be deals around ...this is what I did.
Zeb select are more than an enough unless you want to run in the EEWS
Sorry been of the eeb for a while due to other demands.
ok so I’ve used the 29/29 setup with offset bushings and flip chip low at BPW and basically it’s still a DH and uphill crusher. I climbed the steep uphill route with no issues at all. DH it’s just fun. Balanced and responsive for a bike...
I‘m using Spank 35mm ID wheels no worries. Bought for £90 so even bigger bargain ;-)
As Rob has said shock (x2 Performance on mine) is fine for 29/29. For personal use and as I love to case jumps I put a slightly higher volume spacer in than the stock tune out of factory.
Splines are great...
2021 and 22 basically the same.
With a longer bike you have to adapt technique. This means cranking the bike right over weight in outside pedal if an unsupported turn and look around corner more as bike will follow.
Takes a bit of time as you think you're cranking bike over but won't be. Best...
I agree with Rob. The air shock on mine was initially a concern as am used to coil. However after installing a slightly higher volume spacer on the X2 it started to offer both the preload, pop and mid support for cornering I was looking for. Also when taking hits soaks it up very well.
I too...
Hi Rob....told you so ;-)...it's a hell of an all mountain bike.
I've found Zeb and 63 ish HA bang on...bear in mind the Kenevo can go 62.5 ?
Rear tyre no issues in mud crud or anything.
I'm also finding this to be one of if not the best MTB I've been on motor or not.
I like SRAM forks as...
I tried a 170 lyric on the front and it did run well however the Zeb 180 lifts front a bit, gives more support and with the offset bushing compensates for the longer A-C ….
