I saw that you said you live in N California. I’m south SF bay so mostly the same dry and loose crap. Unfortunately we didn’t get any of that recent rain. I use Cushcore inserts and usually run 20 psi front, 23 psi rear but could probably go even lower.
My thoughts after owning a gen 2 then a gen 3 Turbo Levo. Front traction in iffy conditions is king, for both fun and safety. Soft compound and aggressive knobs, like a Maxxis Assegai. Rear traction is secondary, so get your reduced rolling resistance there. I also prefer the rear to break away...
Not any help now, but something to consider if you (or others) get a vehicle with a 2” receiver. I had the same problem with my quick rack and found out I could replace just the hitch bar for the 2” version from the super duty (US $105). It’s much more stable now. What’s ridiculous is I called...
I came to that conclusion years ago. For the most part I immediately delete the season ending and holiday emails. It’s all leftover clearance stuff that nobody wants. If I like the apparel, it’s way too small or large. If my size, I don’t like the design/color, and neither did anyone else.
That’s the same as the US for bikes, but motorcycles left=clutch, right=front brake. I thought Europe is opposite for bikes so that right is front brake for both bikes and motorcycles?
Nevertheless I’d try to get them to change my rental to match what I’m used to, especially since it’s a safety...
You said you haven’t even ridden it. Talk to your dealer about trading it in for comp model (alloy or carbon) with 700wh battery. Done. Move on and enjoy 😊
Complete redesign in 2022 and waaay better so throw out what you remember. The only carryover is the name. Try a Butcher T9 up front and you might be pleasantly surprised. They also cost way less than many other leading brands, at least here in the US.
Any European E-MTB tour companies to recommend to this yank? I found these guys and the 8 day Croatia or Slovenia tours sound perfect. E-MTB Tours worldwide - H+I Adventures
Theoretically all of that is great….if you plan on keeping your bike and same battery for a decade or two. Reality is it‘s probably gone within 5 years and the battery is still in excellent condition even after breaking those rules. Make a reasonable effort but don’t stress over it.
I’ve had a TLD Stage for a few years now which is pretty much my go to. A big issue at first but not necessarily a problem with the helmet was sweat pouring into my eyes while climbing in warmer weather. I’ve been wearing a Halo sweatband with my open face but couldn’t get the Stage on without...
I prefer to leave mine up while stored between rides for reasons already mentioned. On the other hand think of hood/bonnet gas support struts on vehicles (and industrial applications). They’re basically the same underlying technology but we’re not fretting over leaving them compressed.
MC seems to need an overly robust internet connection, especially when you stop recording and it tries connecting to the Specialized mothership. I’ve found closing the app and restarting it after going online via WiFi does the trick. And closing while hung at processing doesn’t seem to harm...
After about 2 hours my charger hits 105-115 degrees F (41-46 C), depending on where I measure. This is on the 4 amp SBC-C04 that came with my US spec ‘22 Levo Expert with 700 wh battery. It’s in my garage at about 78F (26C).
I don’t recall the charger for my previous gen 2 with 500 wh...
Doesn’t sound like cost is an issue so Expert.
“thinking about a carbon Expert” so that’s two.
Expert. Amazing bike right out of the box. Ride it and enjoy life. Simple.
Thanks for the advice on everything. Yep, I really need to test/tune over relying on ball park recommendations. That should even take precedence over firing the parts canon at it loaded with new links and such 😜
Regarding tuning I honestly haven’t done any bracketing to dial it in. I set the shock rebound and compression per the Spesh calculator which closely matches the Fox guide.
For the Fox 38 fork I’ve settled on 90 psi, 2 spacers, both rebounds per Spesh, HSC 1 click slower from open, and LSC 4...
“That was odd when you were mentioning the spacers not changing your sag settings.”
Maybe it changed by up to a millimeter either way and I wasn’t too concerned. That’s about +/- 2%. Btw Fox’s sag chart rounds up to 17 mm for what it’s worth (31% sag).
I have a 2022 Expert with the stock X2 Performance shock. I think you have the same bike from what I recall of another post.
I’m also shooting for 30% sag (16.5 mm). My riding weight is actually closer to 168 lbs fully loaded. The Specialized calculator recommends 209 psi but 215 gets me closer...
Good to hear. Thinking of getting one but not sure I would benefit as much as you do. Reading your other posts you’re hitting much bigger stuff. I bottom out my X2 once in a while with 1 spacer and 215 psi for 170 lbs.
Something of note, with 5 mm shock stroke remaining on those particular...
I thought this was ridiculous the first time I encountered it. Imagine the uproar if the alternator died in your new car and the car company said the alternator mfg. covers the part but you’ll need to pay for install.
