Fuel EXe Trek Fuel EXe Megathread!

Looks like an awesome setup. What year is the shock? I heard there is a new 2023 version with some neat new features. Once you get the sprindex dialed may be worth experimenting with a progressive spring as well. Looking forward to your thoughts.

Rockshox Super Deluxe Coil with Vorsprung Tractive Tune and MRP Progressive Coil. The traction and compliance is just insane, and works great for all types of terrain and riding (note: I don't do bike parks /big jumps though). Its just perfect on this bike. Couldn't be happier. Paired with...

Is your Lyrik the 2.1 Charger or the new 3.0 Charger damper? That would make more of a difference than Zeb vs Lyrik with the same damper IMO.

Does anyone know what the headset specs are for the EXe? I have a 9.5 and wanting to upgrade the headset and having a hard time finding this info anywhere.

Maybe a fit issue? Stem length, bar backsweep and rise, seatpost fore/aft, etc. can make a huge difference in that feeling.

Does anyone know if the big "TREK" logo on the downtube is a removable sticker or is it actually painted on? Mine is covered w frame protector so I can't check.

Trek Fuel EXe 500wh Battery Project

If we replace the OEM battery with 500, what is the weight penalty?

Can't we just run slightly less sag (and maybe increase travel by 10mm) to increase the BB height?

Great point, so the OneUp lever is plug and play with the factory TransX setup? Which adapter is needed the 22.2 bar clamp?

Interesting. So it's only the carbon cranks that are problematic? Any good alternatives out there to consider other than the (heavy) E13s?

This is correct. I spoke with Trek corporate about this last week actually. Technically it's untested and could cause a warranty issue. But their warranty process is case by case looking at the details of what happened. So if the extra stroke contributed to the warranty-related issue...

According to the service manual, the top shock bolts are 17nm and lower bolt is 15nm. Need to be careful going much further than that not to damage the frame...

Yep. I was shocked to find mine was only torqued to about 7nm when I first got the bike and it was creaking a bit also. Spec is 15nm.

Many (not all) fit experts suggest modern frames have become too big for the designated size. Today's "small" was called a medium or even large 10 years ago. https://www.outsideonline.com/outdoor-gear/bikes-and-biking/mountain-bike-frame-size-fit/ Also look for Lee McCormack content on bike...

Very interesting! Note that the quote has the wrong dimensions. Our shocks are 205x60, not 230x65. Also I spoke with Trek corporate and going beyond 60mm rear stroke is untested and could void warranty.

I changed mine to Line Pro 30s and love them. The 108 hub while great can be a little noisy at times, kinda wish I got an Onyx (silent) for this bike to keep the stealth factor.

Wonder if you run a little less sag on the rear shock it might be perfect as that will lift the whole back end a bit and also provide a bit more travel.

I believe this concern about the BB height is way overstated. I remember seeing the same thing with Specialized bikes. Isn't the BB height dramatically affected by sag and tires/tire pressure which are easily changed? Plus the flip chip / Mino Link which raises it directly. If you for...

My last bike was a high end Stumpjumper with custom CYC X1 Pro motor conversion (best money can buy - 5000W/50mph capable). That bike could absolutely destroy any off the shelf e-MTB in terms of power, range etc. I customized the power settings to have various lower power modes one-push...

Fuel EXe Trek Fuel EXe Megathread!

@Rob Rides EMTB I just installed a Super Deluxe coil shock with Tractive tune, SAR 475lb spring. Only thing is it's 205 x 65mm stroke. Did you find that the extra rear travel on your EXe Enduro build had enough clearance? I think you also overstroked to 65mm right? Do I need to run Mino...
