My Trance is legal, ie assist limited to 15.5mph here in the UK. On road my average is 16-17mph (according to Strava) so I guess I’m always putting in a bit of extra effort.
I did once have a VanMoof city bike with a 3rd party app to overwrite territorial restrictions. I could get 25mph+ but...
I get all sorts of adverse reactions from walkers when I give a gentle “ding” on my very basic thumb-powered bell. Maybe someone could design an electronic one that makes the chiming sound of the parachute drones in the Hunger Games…
I use pump-up garden sprayer on a fine fan jet as a very low pressure washer, with a long soft bristled Muk-off brush. Seems to get off most of the clayey crud that’s unavoidable here in Hampshire and the South Downs.
I had a lot of slack in the hub on my Trance Ex Adv E+2, and a loud “clack” noise on bumps/rough ground, regardless of any load on the drivetrain. I thought the hub had gone but LBS said it was simply the cassette needed tightening, and that sorted it.
I normally use my everyday distance prescription glasses, which have photochromic grey lenses. They’re ok, not very good in woodland when you suddenly hit a very dark stretch.
I also have Zeiss shooting glasses with yellow lenses that work really well on a bike. Lenses are larger than normal...
A mate with a Trance E+2 has just had a new motor after the LBS couldn’t resolve an intermittent loss of all power. I have the same bike and have had a new 625wh battery and a dropper post under warranty. No complaints at all with our LBS - the excellent Cycle World in Portsmouth. They are a...
Check if the castellated nut holding the chainring to the crank has worked loose, allowing the chain to run off-axis. That happened on my Trek Powerfly with Bosch CX.
Here’s another supplier that might have a suitable product.

Interested as I have the same noise on my 2022 E+2. Assumed it was just normal slack in the freehub. Does your noise seem to come from the motor or the rear wheel?
Similar issue on a Giant Trance turned out to a “battery management system” fault according to my LBS. Battery replaced under warranty. A mate had an identical issue and the same fix. I guess that makes it a firmware issue?
I also have the Hummvee and Rockriders. Both were a bargain price. Rockriders are very tough and much better at resisting wet, but the elasticated cuffs snag easily on brambles and have suffered some damage. The zip fly is ridiculously short so you have to lower the whole thing to pee. Humvees...
Another vote for eBike centre. Bought my Trek Powerfly 7 hardtail from them. Also recommend Cycle World in Portsmouth for Giant and Haibike. A true genuine LBS and so helpful. Bought my Giant Trance X Advanced E+2 from them after I realised I needed full sus.
My mate has Assegais front and rear on his Trance (it came like that) and they are wearing well.
My Trance has Assegai front, Dissector rear. 1300 miles on lots of flinty trails, very little wear on the Assegai but the Dissector on the back is nearly goosed.
One of my riding buddies is 75. Tends to take it a bit carefully on the downhills (we oldies tend to break not bounce) but he’s still faster up the hills than many of the younger ones in our group.
