I have a Trance X Advanced E+2, 5 months old, 1200 miles. Had a few issues, wobbly dropper post and battery cutting out - both replaced under warranty. Apart from that I’m very happy with the bike, which replaced my first emtb, a Trek Powerfly 7 hardtail. Service from my LBS has been excellent...
I can recommend Cycle World in Southampton and Portsmouth. They stock Giant, Whyte and Haibike, and are incredibly helpful - just what you want from a LBS.
Giant Trance X Advanced E+2 800 miles cutting out randomly, sometimes rebooting, occasionally not. First attempt by LBS checking connections etc didn’t fix it, battery then got replaced under warranty, all is good now. My mate with an identical bike, similar miles, had the same issue, with the...
I recently had a marketing email from Giant advertising new bikes delivered direct to your home, requiring final assembly by the customer. I don’t know if that includes e-bikes (didn’t bother looking further) but how does that fit with them declining warranty issues if you’ve worked on the bike...
I’ve not had any range issues with the 85Nm Yam motor on my Giant Trance X Adv E+2 with 625w battery. I regularly do 25 miles of pretty hilly stuff in the a South Downs, mostly in #2 or #3, occasionally #4 and I don’t think I’ve used more than 66% yet.
Range is very similar to my previous...
Hello all, and happy new year.
My Giant Trance X Advanced E+2 will need a new chain soon, having done around 800 miles so far and now showing 0.5% wear.
The original factory spec was a KMC e12 Sport - the best price I can see for these is £55, whereas an alternative KMC x12 is £30 and a...
I was advised that a hardtail would suit my riding, so bought a Trek Powerfly 7 last October. After 4 months of trying to keep up with those mates on full sus bikes on rocky trails (eg Douth Doens Way) decided to sell it, then bought I sold it and bought a Giant Trance.p this April. Just saying….
A similar problem with my Giant Trance (Yamaha motor, 800 miles, no error codes) was resolved under warranty by a new battery. LBS said it’s the battery management system, which I take to be battery firmware. A mate with an identical bike had the same issue.
Another vote for Assegai or Dissector in UK conditions. My area has lots of greasy flint/chalk trails (eg South Downs Way) so good puncture resistance is vital, but there’s lots of clay too, with deep muddy ruts on the forest bridleways.
Pretty sure it’s a QC issue. I had this with my 2022 Trek Powerfly 7 (purchased October 2021). Same M7100 chain and it went from shiny to rusty almost overnight, despite what I thought was an adequate maintenance regime reflecting typically wet and muddy UK winter riding conditions. Like yours...
Two suggestions - neither pretend to be waterproof but they resist water well enough.
Endura Humvee. I got some from Tredz - £30 in a sale a few weeks ago. Bargain! The are nylon with a DWR finish, so far been pretty good in light rain and on very wet deep muddy rutted trails. Fairly...
I got an XKL Fat stand as a freebie when I bought my Giant Trance X Advanced E+2. Tbh it’s fine for parking the bike but not stable enough if you’re doing work or cleaning - if the bars turn it can tip the stand and bike. I put some thick 50mm dia foam pipe insulation around the uprights and...
I’ve got a very inexpensive Muddy Fox jacket from Sports Direct. It doesn’t claim to be waterproof but it does a remarkably good job in wet weather. Gets a bit steamy inside and you need a good wicking base layer, but as a low tech solution it’s great...
Similar experience recently with a Giant Trance X Advanced E+2, randomly turning off on rough or smooth terrain, eventually dying completely. Bike had done around 800 miles.
LBS (the excellent Cycle World Portsmouth) had 2 attempts at fixing, eventually concluded it was a battery management...
Gutted for you. A mate was burgled and his Giant Trance stolen, but luckily the scumbags got caught. Strava was the reason he was targeted. We all now have those privacy setting sorted out.
