This morning's wet and windy ride took my Focus Jam2 over the 5000 mile mark, so I thought I'd share my thoughts on owning this bike.
I bought it brand new in November 2018 for the bargain basement price of £2800.
That's back in the days when bike manufacturers discounted surplus stock of each...
Hi Winryn, My Jam2 has done over 4100 miles now and the battery has been charged many, many times.
I think the capacity of the internal battery has depleted very slightly now, but not by much.
When fully charged the display states the range as follows: Eco - 41miles, Trail - 31miles, Boost -...
Just bought one of these 252Wh Batteries. It's a beautifully made piece of kit. Graham has done a great job here.
I tried it out for the first time today on a big ride on my local Isle of Wight trails.
44 miles and 3835ft (higher than Snowdon!), of climbing later I'm well chuffed (but my...
Hi All,
My last ride took me over the 3000 mile mark on my Focus Jam2.
I bought it in November 2018 , so it's just under 19 months old.
The motor is still sweet, but I've been through a few chains, cassettes and jockey wheels as you might imagine.
I was just wondering what's the highest mileage...
Hi Steve,
My fork is set up sweet - but as you rightly point out there's a few things to consider to get it just right.
Mine had one token in when I first got it and I've removed it.
The fork is supple over the whole range that I want and I've yet to bottom it.
For the money the Revelation is a...
Hi BBear - yes parallel universe indeed.
I've got an 'Old Blokes on Bikes' group that have been getting weekend trips to your neck of the woods for years (Wales mostly).
There's a gradual shift towards e-mtbs taking place amongst the group.
I reckon we'll be doing The Long Mynnd , Quantocks...
Hi SD,
I swapped the 140mm RS Recons that came stock on the bike with 2019 150mm RS Revelations with the Debonair Spring.
Not the most expensive or technically advanced forks Rock Shox offer, but a huge upgrade on the Recons.
Much better, with more supple small bump response thanks to the...
Well, it just dawned on me that I've had my Jam2 Plus a year now as I took delivery of it in November 2018.
So, here's an update of how it's held up over the first year.
It's now got 1803 miles (2901 km) on the clock.
What a life changing idea it was to buy this thing!
It's not just the fact...
Hi jimmyjam,
I've just done a 20 mile ride on my Jam2. 1500ft of climbing and THREE bars of battery left.
The computer says 17 miles Eco, 13 miles trail or 9 miles Boost remaining.
The big difference being that my bike is tuned down.
If you're interested in down tuning, take a look at my thread...
I've had a look on the E-Tube Project website, and the release notes for this new update state that you can adjust Eco to Low, Medium or High levels. So it's note completely clear how much adjustability it will offer.
I'm hesitant to upgrade at the moment because my Freemax works perfectly and...
Hi Stiv647.
Is your bike power tuned down?
It's great to see on this thread the amount of experimentation that's going on to try to find the perfect balance between fun/performance and range on these Focus bikes.
It can only be a matter of time before Shimano realise that some of their users...
I swapped the RS Recon 140mm fork that came on my Jam2 to RS Revelation RC 150mm 2019 model with the Debonair Air Spring.
It's been a great upgrade.
I only paid £2800 for my 2018 Jam2 Ltd Plus.(brand new - great deal from Rutland Cycles last November).
So far I've swapped the forks, converted...
Hi Gasser, that's quite a technical question.
There's a good video that explains this on EMBN.
The max torque, rating of the Shimano E8000 is 70Nm and torque is constant in an electric motor.
If you set it to 30Nm for example you get a less ferocious ride effect, which is good for lower assist...
Just done my longest ride to date off the internal battery.
33.5 miles (54km) with 3239ft (987m) of climbing.
Mainly in 20% Eco, but a few sections of Trail and two very steep rough climbs a couple of hundred metres each, that used Boost.
I went down to one bar when almost home with 6 miles of...
I just reread my earlier post and noticed I said that my mates bike was dropping power bars 10 miles minutes after me.
I meant to say that his battery was about 10 MINUTES not 10 miles behind mine!!!!!
Hi Telemarker - it's the 27.5 Plus.
My mate that was also on the trip has the 29" version.
His bike is the same as mine, but it's newer and has done fewer miles.
His results were more or less the same, but his battery bars depleted a little after mine.
I'd say "I've just gone down to 4 bars"...
Hi All,
I've just got back from a weekend of riding in Wales that's been really interesting regarding Freemax tuning.
As I've mentioned earlier in this thread my Focus Jam2 is now tuned as follows:
Eco - 20% assist - 30Nm
Trail - 60% assist - 30Nm
Boost - 100% assist - 70Nm
There were five of...
Hi, do you mean you tuned Trail to be the same as default Eco?
When I got my Jam2 straight out of the box it was set to:
Eco 60% - 30Nm
Trail 90% - 70Nm
Boost 300% - 70Nm
As mentioned earlier I'm now running.
Eco - 20% - 30Nm
Trail - 60% - 30Nm
Boost - 100% - 70Nm
I think that you will find...
