Levo SL Gen 1 Levo SL 2023 Megathread

New Genie shock-equipped Levo SL are now in store. Apparently all models get it, from the alloy version up to the S-Works. And they have gotten unusually generous: even the entry-level model is equipped with SRAM GX and X01 components as well as the new Maven brakes. Btw, the now old 2024...

What did you do to your EBike this week?

No shifting problems whatsoever. I must have been extremely lucky or SRAM derailleurs are more robust than expected.

What did you do to your EBike this week?

Added some personal finish to my derailleur last week after slipping on a wet wooden bridge and doing an almost complete u-turn. I don't know how, but the mech survived despite sliding over rocks at ~10-15 mph. Just scratches and bruises (just like the scratches and phone imprint on my upper leg...

What did you do to your EBike this week?

Did this to my wife's ebike last weekend: new front tyre Conti Ruban (getting the original Veetyre off the 35 mm rim was a total PITA) and the notorious rear mud guard – in this case by Unleazhed, with coloured decals.

What did you buy your ebike this week?

That sounds like you forgot to pump up your tyres.

What did you buy your ebike this week?

I feel the urgent need to buy something for my ebike, just to put this thread back on the rails somehow... 🤭

How much shock do you really need?

Another thing that I learned over the course of this thread is that "shock X" and "shock X factory tuned for my specific bike" can actually be two totally different shocks, even using different shim stacks (watched an interesting yt video on that topic the other day). Which of course makes it...

Kenevo SL Official 2022 Kenevo SL (KSL) Megathread!

I don't think so either looking at the new Vado SL's enormous downtube. But there are other nice features that will hopefully find their way to all the other Specialized bikes, like Apple's Find me or system lock/alarm (or are they and I didn't notice yet?).

How much shock do you really need?

Well thank you for all your comments and answers so far. So I'll happily keep riding my "low end" rear shock, and maybe I'll get my hands on something fancier one day for some back-to-back comparisons. But my verdict so far is that it's more important to have good front suspension.

How much shock do you really need?

I'm trying to break loose a fundamental discussion here. 😉 My Levo SL is not only my first ebike, but also my first fully. After 3 years and more than 11.000 km on all kinds of grounds including countless bikepark rides and gnarly alpine trails, I had plenty opportunities to replace parts and...

Maybe time for a second wheelset... 😉

    Pic of the Day

Another lucky dry Sunday after a rather wet (and busy) week. Always great to be outside.

What did you do to your EBike this week?

Did a service on my DMR V12 pedals the other day. New bushings and bearings, cleaning and greasing. They had developed a clicking noise under load after ~4.300 km. Clicking is gone now, pedals are ready for another 4.000 😉. I really like them.

    New rockshox Psylo

First upgrade step in this case would be to double check air pressure and add tokens. I'm in the same weight class and have not managed to bottom out my Lyrik yet (150 mm, Charger 3 damper, no tokens).

    New rockshox Psylo

Hi. From the description on their website, it sounds like the Psylo is an allrounder for the casual trail rider, like the Fox 34 AWL. Probably not the best choice for regular bike park abuse.

Last proper summer day well spent in bike park Driedorf on Saturday. As of today the cool and wet season has started.

What did you buy your ebike this week?

As long as you don't apply it on your tyre profile. 🤣

What did you do to your EBike this week?

Did another test ride to record and localize my back wheel sounds. Turns out it wasn't loose spokes any more, but a loose hub cap on the rear drive side. So hopefully this was the final fix.

What did you do to your EBike this week?

Yes and yes. Spring washers are a good idea, but nothing that I'd want to install myself. Am already tempted to buy a new rear wheel altogether ...

    Pic of the Day

Visited the family near the infamous Eder dam and had a quick rideout between schnitzel and cake. That memorial marks the location of one of three villages that had to be relocated before the dam was built in 1914. There is a fully intact stone bridge underwater which still can be used today to...
