I had my out of warranty motor refurbished by Bearing Man and they fitted x-type o-rings external to the motor on the crankshaft and I think that has helped keep moisture out. Something you could easily do. I like the Brose motor for it's quiet smooth power. I have another bike with a Bosch...
Hi Rod, I'm thinking of changing from a Kenevo to a Rise. I see you've changed from a Rise to a Levo. I'm a little concerned about the robustness of the Rise. I'd like more range, less motor support and lower weight. What differences have you noticed with Rise/Levo ownership both in terms of use...
Has anyone used the new Specialized App on the Gen1 Kenevo? I have experienced a number of issues including: difficulty connecting to the bike each time, problems using the Tune page to alter the mode settings. It works fine on my Gen 1 Creo apart from also being difficult to connect each time...
I found a tiny hole in the switch membrane which was probably letting in water. After drying it out, it worked fine and I now have a new remote switch as a spare!
Just after starting a ride this week (Kenevo Gen1) my motor started cutting in and out. After a trying a few things like reboot, disconnect and reconnect battery, clean the speed sensor & magnet I noticed that the handlebar remote had stopped working - all was fine for the first 15 minutes of...
Hi Mike, there is no maintenance recommended by Specialized and driping lube of any kind into the crankshafts is not a good idea. I had one of my motors rebuilt by Performance Line Bearings (www.ebikemotorcentre.com) and they added external x-ring seals which I have found work really well at...
Sram have told me that the flanged crush washer can be reused and should seal until it's replaced at the 200hr service. If it doesn't I'll use the standard crush washers as you suggested - thanks👍
I haven't had a chance to contact J-Tech yet but TF Tuned said they didn't supply bulk washer kits to the public (Can't say I'm surprised given it's in their interest to sell servicing). I've finally found a local shop that said they can supply Rockshox parts but they need to check availability...
Hi Steve, I already found those too but there are no foreign suppliers with the correct part either. Frankly, I'm shocked that many of my local bike shops are stocking show rooms full of bikes fitted with Rockshox suspension yet they openly admit that they can't obtain spares. I did try TF Tuned...
I'm having difficulty obtaining Rockshox spares in the UK. Most bike shops I've visited locally just said they can't get them and one said that Zyrofisher (UK distributor) are going to even stop supplying service kits as they want to encourage dealers to send forks/shocks to their SRAM Tech...
I had another problem with my Creo SL crank 'clicking' when pedalling uphill under load with or without motor assistance. Turned out to be the un-greased motor/frame interface. Lesson learned: Grease the motor/frame interface and re-torque the motor mount bolts once in a while.
One more thing to try here is greasing the motor/frame interface and re-torque the motor mount bolts. This solved the same issue on my Creo SL. I had already tried everything else first!!! Any metal to metal interface is always worth greasing as it's bound to flex and make a noise! Lesson learned.
I'm not so sure about that - I think it's there to make sure the bottle cage doesn't 'open' when bouncing down the trail. That's where it's fitted in my owners manual too. The cable once correctly pressed in - should stay in place.
Brilliant review video Rob! Looks like the right direction for full fat ebikes. Lighter, bigger battery range & well integrated controls. Orbea bikes look good too! I did laugh a bit now that Bosch have finally managed to do a neat handlebar control - something Specialized have had for more...
I've used tubes, tubeless and Tanus inserts with tubes and they all have advantages and disadvantages. For road bikes I've only ever used tubes and don't get that many flats - when I do it's very easy and quick just to change a tube. For eMTB/MTB I think Tubeless offers the best feel and grip...
I watched that vid and tried routing the gear cable differently but it created more friction in the cable itself due to the s-bend it has to take over the motor. Using the original route is just a bit more faf when putting on the cover but makes for sweeter gear changes. No doubt it's easier for...
