Never updated, have i been missing out?

When Bosch made TOUR+ available in 2022, I had my bike shop add it. It goes in the place between ECO and EMTB ('21 Trek Rail 7). It provides boost levels from ECO to TURBO, depending on rider input. I rarely use the other modes now.

After Bosch and Moustache developed the MagicTour mode, Bosch made it avaiable to all manufacturers using the Performanceline CX motor, I think in 2022. Bosch calls it Tour+. Depending on your cadence and pedalling effort, it provides assistance levels ranging from ECO to TURBO. I rarely use any...

Bosch Chainring – KMC chainring on e*thirteen cranks

The chainring is independent of the crankset - as long as it's compatible with the motor, and the offset is correct, you're fine.

Rail (625Wh) Lets talk Rear Mudguards

Not fancy, not pretty, but cheap and effective. IME it lasts 3 years or so, then I replace it.

Plastic rim guard or tape ?

*Schwalbe BB I haven't run Schwalbe tires for several years - I'm happy saving $$ running Bontrager and Specialized tires now.

Plastic rim guard or tape ?

I like the idea of rim strips - and luckily, I had no issue with the Maxxis, Specialized, and (of course) Bonrager tires I've installed. If I had trouble fitting the tires, or decided to use an insert, the rim strips would come off in a heartbeat.

    Rail (750Wh) Faulty shock?

If you don't have a Schrader valve core handy, at least remove, clean, and refit.

    Gen 4 lockring removal.

The chainring should not be turning independently of the spindle. Hold the non-drive side pedal/crank while you loosen the locking.

Bosch CX gen 4 chainring nut

Is there a groove for an o-ring where the nut and chainring meet? If not, adding an o-ring won't help. Loctite is working for many riders, but I went a step farther, and added safety wire. (Other users have drilled and tapped the nut for a grub screw.) Here's the image that gave me the idea, and...

Rail (625Wh) Considering a new Rail 7, Gen 2, Medium, Dark gray.

Trek store, or bontrager.com I added the pawls & springs. As cheap as it was, I wouldn't do it again. For the most part, it just made coasting louder.

Rail (625Wh) Considering a new Rail 7, Gen 2, Medium, Dark gray.

So... the Rail 7 Gen 2 has the Purion, not the Smart System. There is still software that can be updated? Bosch is still issuing updates - not as often as the Smart System, but you have options as to which assist settings you can have. To access the chain ring nut, simply remove the right side...

Rail (625Wh) Considering a new Rail 7, Gen 2, Medium, Dark gray.

I have a '21 Rail 7 1 - Will this bike have the latest Bosch CX motor? Yes. All Rails do. 2 - The 625 WH motor seems "small" compared to the other brand offerings. Thoughts? When I was 250lb on the bike, the 625Wh (battery, not motor) was good for ~40 miles & 4000ft vertical in eMTB mode 3 - I...

Bosch Gen 4 Chainring Nut printed Torque of 25 to 30 NM is likely wrong

Mine came loose on my first ride. Rather than investigate the cause of the loosening, I torqued mine to 30Nm, safety wired it, and now just ride my bike.

Bosch CX gen 4 update, is it worth it?

Even with the latest firmware, a Rail can have TOUR+ or EMTB Lite in the TOUR (one up from ECO) position.

Bosch CX gen 4 update, is it worth it?

EMTB mode has always been standard on the Trek Rail. Early on, Sport was replaced by EMTB Lite, and if requested, EMTB Lite can be replaced by TOUR+ (The Purion displays “TOUR” for all of these modes.) (Assist levels are, TOUR+: 60-340, EMTB Lite: 140-250) I have my Rail in TOUR+ 99% of the...
