I ran 2 sets front/rear of DHR II before moving to a DHF front. The DHF front quickened the steering quite a bit so its there for now with the DHR II rear. Stayed with 2.6" F/R. Have an assagai 2.5" on my 2022 heckler now and it seems to be better all around grip wise so maybe its worth...
I like it, I’m tempted by it for sure, but my 2020 27.5 X01 RSV carbon wheel version is just like i like it. Who knows, a demo ride on the 2022 might change that. I agree with some of the comments above, to get carbon wheels as part of the kit, you gotta max out the spec and its missing a few...
Big guy checking in here, about your size. Have Fox36 fork too - how is your compression set? At that air spring pressure, you need very little compression (Im backed all of the way out) and then add in Rebound to control that spring that is now 'heavier' and will need the rebound spring...
Yep yep, RustyIron, WE OUT HERE!
about to pass 2000 miles, just fitted 3rd rear tire (DHR II) 2nd front tire (switched to DHF) and new CODE rear pads in the calipers. Rear puncture (a stick, for real!?) and that prompted a refresh for all of those parts I bought during the pandemic as...
another late vote here for 'worth it'. Could you spend the same money on other stuff? Sure, maybe but once you get to a particular spec of a bike, it just make sense.
I have Santa Cruz reserve wheels (with DT hubs) and they def are stiff/rigid and as a big guy, was slightly worried about damage...
I usually laugh it off when called a cheater, then say 'its only cheating if you get caught'. Only once was a guy upset, I asked him if he liked having more than 1 gear to pedal up a hill and back home was cheating and if the single speed guy thought he should be out here riding either and he...
after 1250miles, my stock X01 chain decided that half of one of its links was better left on the trail somewhere. Ironically, I still pedaled home and I consider it a win.
Replacements took some thought but on the heckler, or any e-mtb, not worried about weight and I'm a big dude so went with a...
A newly installed Maxxis DHR II out back in 27.5x2.6" and a fresh injection of Stans in the tire. Front tire is still holding out well but after 1040 miles of trails it was time for renewed traction in the rear. First time changing tubeless tires, one knuckle lost some skin but otherwise no...
Big guy here also, about same size and I also toyed with the SL v FF dilemma for a while as I only ever knew analog bikes. Almost bought a Levo comp for the same mentioned reasons, alu frame, components good enough to ride now and see what breaks. But I couldn’t find one summer 2020 and didn’t...
Quick update:
Reverb dropper post has developed the spongey phenomena again, and same as before, during a week when I couldn't ride it started happening again and now its there. Shop is all over and will warranty it with SRAM. They fixed it the first time but claimed that the issue shouldn't...
Very nice Velociraptor! Will follow this thread, I haven't had any issues on my Heckler but I'm not the most talented and I don't ride the steepest downhill either. Any additional feedback since you have more miles on it now?
