Hi all. Just wondering how you are all transporting your Meridas?
I've got one of those tow ball mounted bike carriers with two foam covered arms. So one arm goes though the frame and one arm between the frame and the front suspension fork. My rack is pretty sturdy, but I've found that with the...
Nice looking bike Adrian! Looks like you have added extra polish. How could you possibly get that dirty!
I had my 800 upgraded from 25Km/hr to 32 Km/hr here in NZ by a Shimano tech. Actually tops out at about 30Km/hr. May be a wheel size thing. I haven't checked mine against GPS yet but I...
Great news Joss. I thought you'd like it! Yeah you don't want to ride too far with no battery power. It's like riding in sand. Sounds like Medium may be better for you.
Re the brakes. I find the SLX to be OK. It would be easy enough to swap to a 4 piston Zee or Saint on the front if you wanted...
I'm in the same situation as you Dave and looked at the various options. Not going to leave our two ebikes stored on the street overnight but will leave them when going into cafes etc. and you don't want to be worrying about them and checking every few minutes.
A cable lock is close to useless...
Thanks Mike. Very interested to hear how you get on with the Timber Trail, i.e. did you make it without the battery going flat. You're a long way from a power point :-) We're heading to Nelson and on to the West Coast in December to do the West Coast Wilderness trail plus some other trails down...
Thanks for the comments guys. I had a look at that dissertation Donnie797 - but didn't read the whole thing :-)
I guess there are things that you can do to prolong battery life but maybe not worth the hassle. Let's face it - at one charge per week, 500 charges is 10 years. And in 10 years there...
Hi Tim. Welcome. Great story. I'm hearing so many stories about how ebikes are allowing people, and couples, to do stuff that they couldn't (or wouldn't) normally do. That's such a great aspect of these bikes. Glad you're having fun!
Welcome Mike. We can exchange stories on the 800. We did the Timber Trail (well the first half) a couple of years ago on non motorised bikes. Keen to do it again with the Meridas. Just wondering about the range though, as from memory the first day is 55Kms with about 15Kms of uphill at the...
Hi all,
Just wondering what strategies people use for prolonging the life of your batteries (if any)?
From what I've read, Lithium Ion batteries last a lot longer if they are not constantly charged up fully to 100%. If they are charged to only 80%, you get something like 2 or 3 times more...
Good news Joss. I'm sure you'll love it! I was hooked at the first ride. Was going to look at the Specialized Levo as well but didn't get past the Merida as it was so good and such good value for money. There's something very addictive about E mountain bikes. I find I'm heading to the local...
Hi Joss. I'm just a tad shorter than you and have a medium 800. It fits and rides really well. My wife, who is about 5' 5" also rides a medium. She probably should have a small but I couldn't find one!
I haven't ridden a 900 (like hen's teeth) but the 800 is awesome. I guess if you are a hard...
Thanks Dave. We only got the 800 versions - but to be honest, it's all we will ever need. The hardest thing was finding one. I think we got the last two in NZ! I would have been tempted to get the 900 if I could have got hold of one. The 2019 model in black and red looks nice ...... hmmm
Thanks Kaelidoz. I figure it's a bit like having a Range Rover. Nice and plush on the road but with all the capability to go anywhere off road when you want. I've been surprised to see my wife tackle some off road hills already. I'm also pleasantly surprised how well the Eone sixty rides on the...
Hi all. Chris here. I live in Auckland New Zealand.
Just bought a couple of Merida Eone sixties. One for me and one for my wife. She's no mountain biker so I was delighted when she fell in love with the Merida. I thought she would want to buy a shopping cart ebike with a big seat, upright...
