Hmm Trailforks, I guess I can start contributing there with all the riding I'm doing lately.
Yes, Strava is becoming an oppressive regime. They've shut down/ or bought a lot of promising projects that were working with their api. Veloviewer is still around and a great place to study trails that...
I like trailforks for the rich information on certain trails. Unfortunately, it doesn't seem to be used much here and most of the really challenging trails aren't listed.. Also, even with the ebike tab selected, none of the ebike segments show up.
Yes, Strava needs to deliver much more imo...
Nope, no ebike segments show up ever, even when zoomed in on the segment and I refresh. No worries, I have a work around.
Yeah, I hear you on the oldschool riding style. Until recently, I never even had a Strava account. The fact that I've only lived in this area for 8 months and I'm unfamiliar...
Yeah Gary, that would be nice. Unfortunately, Strava has an inexplicable hatred of ebikes. Favorited segments are not visible on the map if they are ebike segments, they don't show up when you search for them.. They're basically hidden. And, as far as I know, there's no way to lay out multiple...
Thanks for the tip, I'm going to attach a lanyard. Only had my Cube 160 with kiox display for a month and I've already had it pop of twice. (light falls, nothing serious) Fortunately the display is still sound. The magnet is strong until its not. I prefer the lanyard idea to screw as I think if...
So.. I've been learning new trails where I live in the Sierra Calderona, north of Valencia in Spain. There are thousands of kms of trails around here, some of them very dodgy indeed. I needed away to organize all of my starred Strava segments to view them visually for when I plan my routes. This...
Very important point. For this reason, better not to size up. The 125 drop is just enough for me on the medium, I drop it to the maximum and when fully extended, it's just enough height with slightly bent knees. I have a 79.5 cm inseam.
I have a medium hybrid 160 and find Cube rides small compared to other emtbs I've ridden. The shorter chain stay is great, I actually like the 27.5 and how nimble it rides. I'm 173 and think I could still ride a large. 168 sounds like you may be pushing it though, depends on your riding style...
Exactly. It's like the often quoted study, 80% of car accidents happen within 5 miles of your house... when that's exactly where we drive the most. Statistics are most often used as a blunt force object to prove our confirmation bias imo.
From what I understand, the problem with hermetically sealing the motor to prevent water ingress is that it will overheat leading to a whole batch of other problems. Robust connectors certainly makes sense though.
Agreed. My wife nearly killed a young guy when he flew out of control directly in front of her car while biking in a huge pack of roadies. She just managed to stop. Everyone got out and the guy was too embarrassed for them to call the ambulance. He was lucky to just be scraped up.
I can understand your frustrations with the cutoff when on asphalt. Unfortunately, until we have nextgen motors that can detect surfaces, I assume you will also be riding the bike on trails only meant for bikes, not motor vehicles. It then becomes not just your business but the business of...
Buying a used scooter if you want to go faster is cheaper than trashing a perfectly good bike by nuking the motor. Not a good idea. Besides, people that do this give a bad name to ebiking in general. Just sayin.
