Finally I have the display working, here is the current status:
Before start doing the EBike application, here is what is working and what is missing:
- [x] Throotle read
- [x] Torque sensor read
- [x] Brake sensor read
- [x] Wheel speed sensor read
- [x] VESC motor control
- [x] Display

The one I use on the video can not support 13S battery, only 12S. So I decided to go with other that supports up to 75V, that should be plenty for my 14S / 52V battery.
Yes, I agree would be better to have smaller board but I do not think that exists. The only option if is someone desing, build...
I got the Bafang M500 motor running using a throttle. The code I did, reads the throttle value and maps that value to a motor current value, that I send to VESC using command COMM_SET_CURRENT.
Here is the current EBike board. Black and red wires powers the EBike board from the VESC. Yellow...
I understand your suggestion, but I bought my M500 only 8 months ago and If I would need to buy M510, I would need to pay 1000€!! Paying 1000€ just to have the assist levels factor customized??
But even that would be not enough, because I really want to focus on my fitness and I need full...
Almost for sure original firmware on the original motor controller, implements FOC.
For me, even lowest assist level produces to much motor power so I will win once I can setup it to lower -- my fitness will be improved and I will be able to use a smaller and lighter battery.
I just got the M500 second hand motor, it was fast, thanks to Thomas H.
First thing I did were to remove the cover and original motor controller, and cut the motor wires on the original controller and solder to VESC. Took me only 1 minute to get the motor running:
As you can see, I only...
I need a M500 motor for development. Does anyone have a used one to sell?

Since the Bafang is keep launching new motor models and not updating the firmware of previous recent models, like M500 and M600, I really...
Hi everyone.
I keep using my EBike with M500 motor that I built with the Dengfu E10 frame, very happy with it riding on mountains, until 2 days ago that a frame bolt simple disappeared while I was riding at middle of a 80 kms event...
Here is the bolt I need to replace - can someone point me...
I can n
I can not do it but I will help anyone that want to build them. I think the Garmin / ANT+ LEV integration is the most relevant feature, but probably only for the ones using their ebikes for fitness.
Sure, the display also unlocks / change the motor max speed of 25km/h.
I would like to share information about my EBike that is more and more electric!!
I just installed the electronic gears from SRAM AXS 12 speed and they are perfect because now my gears work like a swiss watch!!
Recently I also installed Garmin Rally XC200 Power Meter Bike Pedals.
(I know there...

Now you can use and build our EasyDIY OpenSource display (a replacement for the original display), that let you change while you are riding, the motor max speed as also see advanced data as battery voltage, as also it sends the motor and battery data by ANT+ to the Garmin GPS cycling displays...
I found the issue, the cassette was a small bit loose. This time I used a torque wrench with adequate torque and I already did 400kms on mountains and that noise is gone.
No because there are specific functions to control the motor, see data and configurations from motor and battery, that can not be done on the Garmin but can be done on the display. Also, this way the Garmin is optional to use.
Some notes about using pedal power meter on EBike, something I did not found information of:
I did first test ride with the Garmin Rally XC200 power meter pedals + Garmin Edge 1040. On the EasyDIY display, I have the regular 3 buttons and I also have the 4th button specifically to change the...

If you can find the link for that posts, I would appreciate.
Meanwhile, here is a picture of inside. I was now thinking if could be the battery shaking on that yellow metal piece that locks that battery, because I can see that piece is a bit free to move when there is no battery attached...
