You should definitely go tubeless. It will resolve most of your puncture problems. It does however require a more diligent maintenance schedule, i.e. regular fluid change and cleaning of inside of tires, but in most people opinion a very worth while improvement to tubes.
Personally, i would shy...
Hi, best defence against the type of punctures you describe is going tubeless. I use Orange or Stan’s, these fluids have always done a good job on small punctures. If you’re already tubeless you might just need to upgrade to better types. The XR4 might not be the best ones for your riding...
Recently found this tread. I really love to see where people are riding.
Here’s a couple of pictures from this past week. This is from one of my favourites riding area. Called Jumpingpound Ridge and Cox Hill in trailforks. Lots of blowdowns this year.
Cheers
I replaced the Bontrager goo with Orange sealant. I’ve been using it for years and it has always performed well for me. I always carry Stan’s Dart Plugs to fix larger holes. I like the shape of the plugs and how easy there are to use. They do work well. And as a last resort i also carry a spare...
Hi, for your fork the best way to find out how many tokens (spacers) you’ve got is simply to remove the cap over your left leg. Simple to do, just deflate the fork and unscrew the cap. Nothing special other than removing it and counting the number of tokens. Otherwise you can use the charts...
Agreed, i have to clean my magnet sensor regularly As well. It does collect steel shavings from the brakes causing erratic speed readings and triggering error messages.
Great news. And arrived earlier that you expected.
i suggest when you finally take possession of you bike to go around and ensure all bolts are tight. Use a torque wrench if you have one. If you read through the different treads on this site you’ll find lots of people who after receiving their...
100% agree.
On my buddy‘s and my own bike our chainrings on our Rail 7 came loose after a few rides. We both had the lock nut retightened at our LBS using Blue tread lock. No problem after over 2000km since.
Strongly recommend you do the same before it comes loose. BYTW the reason it comes loose...
Truth is the numbers you get from Trek or Rockshox calculators are just starting points for setting up your fork. It will get you in the bulk part and for most people you’ll need to adjust. On the Yari that you have there are 3 settings : sag, rebound and LSC. You should also have 2 tokens...
Hi, first thing to note is that metal pads are noisy by nature. Not always but they scream a bit more than resin. For your next set you could try resin pads. For commuting you likely don’t need the stopping power of the metal pads. If you live in a humid climate, a little of condensation on the...
Hi, the reason you had to reduce the air pressure to achieve the same sag after your upgrade, is because the positive air chamber (the one above the piston seal) is now smaller. The change in air volume will also affect the compression curve (progressiveness) of the fork. After the upgrade the...
Back to … financially irresponsible…
Remember the following truth from a wise old man:
You won’t get a medal for dying with a lot of money in your bank account.
Great looking bike. With the upgrades you did on your fork, in addition to improved plushness you might find it rides higher. Meaning...
Hi and Happy New Year!
my friend and i had the same problem. First and easiest thing to try is to simply apply a good coat of treadlock when you install your chainring back on. I have ridden over 1300km since i did that fix and has had no issues yet.
cheers
Most of our riding here is dry, so 5-10 freerider pro are the best for me. Awesome grip, and have a better inner sole than the regular freerider. If i happen to ride on a wet and muddy day, then i just suck it up and hose them down when back home. Would not be my choice if the majority of my...
often if a dropper post is slow to drop or raise, or if like in your case you find it difficult to lower it, it could be that your post clamp is too tight. If it’s too tight it will deform the post and squeeze the internal mechanism. Problem is, if you don’t tighten it hard enough the post will...
