Zeb always harsh and can’t get setup right

I’ve found over the years that sending troublesome under performing forks to a reputable service centre is the most cost effective way to go. They’ll ask for the bike details/weight/riding style etc, and it should come set up nicely. I’ve used TF Tuned in the past, and JTech, and both times...

What did you buy your ebike this week?

I actually got this for another bike, but decided to throw it on the ‘de-specced’ Levo, and it works very well indeed. A 2023 Rockshox Lyrik Ultimate, I love the green! 🙂

PSA - New Shimano EP8 motors are 580 at Wiggle/CRC at the moment

They were in stock yesterday, I think that just means they’ve run out but may be getting some more in.

    2023 EP8 rattle

My 4 year old E8000 doesn’t rattle, and an EP8 bike I hired for a day whilst on holiday that did wasn’t exactly noticeable. Motor failures are a lottery, just don’t pressure wash them, have a bit of mechanical sympathy and hope they keep on trucking. I’ve got an EP8 on the shelf ready to...

Levo Gen 3 2023 Turbo levo alloy comp multitool

Yep, my Alloy version didn’t have a tool either, which I knew, but I’ve got a Granite ratchet set in the head tube, a Granite tubeless tyre puncture repair tool and a chain tool in the handlebar ends. I’ve got wolf tooth bar tools on another bike and some peaty stuff in a frame bag on my...

Specialized Levo Pro -> Warning for other riders! -> Bike carrier damage Roval carbon rims

Is that an aftermarket exhaust system, the pipes look pretty large and seem to have a brand name? Is the car remapped as well? Non-standard car could be running a hotter exhaust as a result? It’s not something I’d have given a second thought really, but sorry your bike got damaged. I drive an...

Specialized Turbo SL for 3.5k brand new or Second Hand Trek EXE

The £3.5k Levo SL stock is run out pricing, I expect when they’re gone they’re gone. Now things bike supply wise are normalising, there will always be deals to be had on a new bike, especially if it’s last years or a superseded model. Probably one thing we all got out of the habit of doing...

Do's and Don'ts for e-bike battery care. What do you do to keep your battery performing at its best?

Batteries store different amounts of energy dependent on the temperature, it’s perfectly normal. You seeing an indicated 98% on the battery state of charge the day after charging it to an indicated 100% is not a measure of degradation, just the BMS giving a best guess based on what it knows...

    Why no gear indicator?

Don’t you get a feel for the right speed to be approaching an obstacle etc by how hard or easy it is to pedal? I’m not sure how a gear indicator would help me to be honest, even from when my Raleigh chopper had a display to tell me which of the 3 gears I was in! It either ‘feels’ right for...

Would like peoples opinions on the damage to my new bike.

Not that it matters how the damage occurred, but I struggle to see how it could have happened with forks installed. My guess is that it took a tumble whilst in a workstand or similar, and the creasing and rippling of the paint looks consistent with somebody trying to push it back out enough to...

Help me understand picking a coil size

Yes, and basically, as long as the stroke of the spring is the same or greater than the shock, and it physically fits length wise on the shock body, then it’s good. A 57mm spring would ‘bind’ (or compress fully) before the shock had gone through its 65mm of travel, in your example.

What size QR dropout is this?

Is it a disc brake frame, quick release or through axle? I’d say that’s a 135mm axle width frame from the measurement, if it’s quick release axle fitment then even more certain.

Do's and Don'ts for e-bike battery care. What do you do to keep your battery performing at its best?

Age and using a battery will degrade it, same as us people. Leaving it stored in a discharged state will kill it for sure. Battery Management Systems are getting better all the time, they manage the battery so we don’t have to, you can’t overcharge a battery or discharge to absolute zero in...

    EV charging points for e-bike

It’s becoming a ‘thing’ in the camper van life world, and those adaptors do seem to work on AC posts. There’s a YT’er who talks about it here, second half of the video is the pertinent bit where he goes to a Tesco PodPoint and demonstrates it charging his Bluetti power station. Ps. Ignore the...

Levo Gen 3 Gen 3 Levo Base Model Upgrades: Handling

I went for the Michelin 29” Wild AM2 on the front and 27.5” Force AM2 for the rear. There’s a very muddy and rocky descent on one of my regular routes, and it’s in a dark tree tunnel so always damp and wet. That’s my measure of how good a tyre is in the wet, and I find they work fine, as do...

Levo Gen 3 Gen 3 Levo Base Model Upgrades: Handling

I’ve got a base Levo as well, but also regularly ride a 30lb long travel standard mtb along with a Focus Jam2 378Wh, which is noticeably lighter than the Levo. There’s no getting away from the fact that a 52lb Levo is less agile than the short travel mtb you’ve been used to, but it’s swings...

Discounted Bike and parts Thread - cheap(er) ebikes & stuff

Funnily enough, I’ve just replaced the RS Silver 35 TKs that originally came on my Levo with a set of these Merlin Fox 36, fitted to a standard 30lb enduro MTB. Scanning the QR code on the forks, they’re listed as 2021 My Fox 36 Rhythm, so new old stock, and they also have an EMTB ready...

emtbs are greener than analogue bikes!

Don’t forget cobalt isn’t just used in some types of battery, it’s used to refine road fuels from oil, as well as used in specialist steel manufacturing. Amongst other things… As ever, the actual truth is somewhat more complicated than the linked video, illegal cobalt mining in ‘artisanal’...
