I have a 2013 Rapidbike 3P+ bike rack i purchased from Norauto, and it is simply perfect. Have been using it several times a week for 6+ years and it has been rock solid.
Sadly it has been discontinued, but the Spanish manufacturer Towcar sells other racks with a fairly similar design, like this...
My slx 11 speed cassette has almost 3000km and it only slips in the second smallest gear, the one I've used to cruise at 32 km/h ;)
Top gears don't slip at all unless I put on a new chain. I'm currently rotating 2 chains, the original KMC E11 and a Sram PC-X1.
The climbing traction of the Eddy current rear 27.5 x 2.8 in snow and sticky mud is simply outstanding. It's my new favourite winter rear tire, alongside with a 2.5 Shorty in the front wheel.
I replaced a worn out 2.5 HR2 on my rear wheel with an Eddy Current 27.5x2.8. My first impressions are:
-Very good climbing traction and braking on hard/loose over hard terrains.
- Average cornering grip, not as predictable as a Maxxis HR2 or Aggressor 2.5.
- very poor grip on trails covered...
I think the stock wtb rims are VERY soft, I have dinged the rear rim to the point that it won't hold air anymore. Tubeless won't work anymore so I'm currently running tubes. I will replace the rear rim with a Spank Oozy Trail 395+ soon.
On the other hand I have Spank Spoon 32 rims on my Downhill...
I have to replace my rear rim soon. It's a WTB ST i29 light and it's full of dings and dents, affecting tubeless effectiveness.
What do you recommend, the Oozy Trail 345 or 395? I want to get the maximum protection against dents. I usually run 2.5 WT tires and might try 2.8 tires.
I know the axial play is normal but I also have angular play which is the problem. I have the same problem as the guy who posted the video on the first page. In my case the play is not visually noticeable but it's there, I can feel it with my hands.
My E8000 BB bearings are starting to die at 1100 km, 3.5 months of riding.
When moving the cranks side to side with my hands i feel a slight play. Still not noticeable when riding the bike, no creaking noises either.
Very disappointed. The BB bearings on my normal bike were still perfect at 7500...
I think that my E- sommet at 1100 km is starting to develop bottom bracket play. There is a very slight lateral movement at the tip of the cranks. This movement is transmitted through the BB from one crank to the other so I guess it's the BB :(
I'll try to replace the threaded caps for new...
At least the derestriction based on decreasing the wheel circumference to 1300mm is easily reversible. You just change the circumference to the original value
