Having tried to get Gorilla tape off my rims, I would recommend avoiding even clear GT to my display screen, just in case I needed to remove it. @Gilbo 's idea of using a mobile phone screen protector would be my choice, you may even get two out of it.
I cycled up that on my way from Bristol to Newbury. It was 2005 before I even knew what MTB was. I was on a Trek Navigator that with the various racks and other attachments weighed 43lbs (19.5kg), and no it wasn't an ebike! In addition, it had been raining heavily and non-stop all the way from...
Never blistered, just an acute disposition to chipping. I have used helicopter tape on my bikes ever since (before riding, not after that first chip/scratch/scrape etc).
Thanks for that, very useful. Maybe Shimano has tired of the bad press on here and elsewhere and are finally doing something about it. Maybe the bike companies are pushing back?
It is highly recommended to experiment with the settings. I met a guy who was deeply disappointed with his Nukeproof bike which he said had no guts. I spent less than ten minutes with him to set up his mobile to connect to the bike and changed his "assistance character" to 8 out of 10 instead of...
I had a e8000, zero problems.
I've got an EP8, same story.
I love the way they feel when riding, it is why I chose my first emtb.
What I don't like is the inability to service them and Shimano's crap reputation for customer service. After the e8000 (despite its faultless performance), I was...
On the Friday 16th Dec I drove down to Stansted airport (UK) to collect my elder daughter. Due to heavy traffic, roadworks and accidents causing traffic jams, the 1hr 45m journey took 3.5 hours. During the outward journey I started with what my wife and daughter both told me were the symptoms...
Hardtail vs full suss is usually a matter of personal preference on MTBs. I have ridden and owned both and definitely prefer a FS. But for emtbs, the general trend appears to be that those whose first emtb was an HT, they usually swap it out for a FS fairly quickly. The extra weight at the back...
@Gkf9 In addition to the advice from @CJaMTB (which I agree with), buy from an LBS within easy commuting distance. I bought from an LBS round trip 3 hours away, considerably less than some on here, but getting home to find a message that the random electrical fault "is fixed now and you can...
I used to use Finish Line wet lube in the wet season and FL Dry in the dry season, but now I just use the wet lube all year round. I have discovered that the key is to apply the lube after you have washed the bike, and then run through a towel before you ride. The formulation of wet lube resists...
The Airshot has been faultless for me and I would replace immediately if it was stolen. 100% recommended.
Remove the valve core from the Presta valve on the wheel and connect the Airshot hose. Inflate the Airshot to about 130psi (more if you have tyres larger than 29x2.6) and then...
My Merida eOne-Sixty (great bike) came with a multi tool that slots underneath the saddle, very much like the one in your post. The whole thing (tools and carrier) started to rust quite quickly. So I removed it, cleaned and treated it. It now sits waiting to be refitted when I come to sell the...
My first emtb was a 29er. I could have had it in 27.5, but I'd never owned a 29er so I went that way. I loved the bike, but there was one small irritation. Whenever going down something steep, with the saddle down and my arse over the rear wheel the big 29" tyre buzzed my arse! Even worse in the...
Thinking about riding is almost as good as actually riding it. I can visualise the trail as I go. I usually fall asleep half way round the route.
Bike stuff.
Xmas Day brought me a rather nice Tee shirt, some Fox gloves to match my Fox shirt. Underneath from left to right a OneUp Components magic link opener and closer, above it an OUC bacon strip insert tool, an "On Ewer Bike" beermat and finally a pack of Bacon strips for use with the...
