One thing I wish I tried before swapping was trying MTX ceramic pads on the stock Deore 2 pots. Those alone improved stopping power on my commuter ebike. Something to consider. But my shop was pretty nice in trying to solve the issue and gave me the XTs for cost.
Doesn't the charger pulse when charging and turn solid blue when finished or plugged in but not connected to the bike?
I actually haven't noticed this after overnight charges since the first time weeks ago. But I am thinking a simple plug timer set to 6 hours should completely solve this...
I’m 100kg and they didn’t get it done with a 203 up front. Went with the 4 piston XTs and they are about 20% better. At the end of the day it’s a pretty impactful factory upgrade for $220, but prob not worth the $460 retail to change them out after the fact.
But at your weight I’d give the...
Been happy with the 170mm XTs on my XL Rise. Coming from 175s on my non e-bikes, I cant tell any difference.
I would like to try 160s at some point, but I de-assist my trail mode a bit to keep up the heart rate, and appreciate the standard feeling of leverage on the steep fire road climbs...
To Orbea's credit, once you put XT brakes and cranks on the H15 it's pretty much a top spec MTB for about $1000-1500 more for the motor, battery and charger. Most other makers are charging $3000+ for the "e" part of eMTB. And some competitor pricing per spec is just confusing (psst Transition...
Mine was delayed a few times, but finally came in mid March. For what it's worth the shop was actually surprised because most other pre orders were delayed until April.
If you want to make sure the bike is in the queue, they can probably show you their Obrea portal with your exact bike. It...
I’d be surprised if this is an intended feature. Having to time your charge is a defect/limitation of cheap of Alibaba tier ebikes. Bosch/shimano systems have smarter chargers.
And I don’t see any functional advantage to wearing out the battery with one full charge cycle to just immediately...
This clarifies what I saw this weekend - dropped to 4 bars within the first 2-3 miles of my ride after connected to the charger overnight.
I take it from the OP post that if you disconnect when full it should not drain power as rapidly?
please report Orbeas response.
The only way a rider is getting more range on an M20 is riding style or motor settings. I mention in a previous comment but my mate on his M10 gets about 20 miles/~2500 ft in mostly profile 2 "trail" mode when the battery dies. After the same ride I have about 2 bars of power in reserve, and I...
At 5ft6 + eMTB 160mm cranks are a no brainer. The decision gets a little dicey for 6ft+ riders. I went with 170mm, but imagine 160 or 165s would work just as well with bit more clearance.
I can go either way on that. I will say the market will probably guide Orbea on this one. In a vacuum the Orbea lineup seems dialed, especially with the extender option. But when put against compelling competition like the SC Heckler, Transition Repeater et al, a longer range carbon model may...
My buddy's M10 is markedly lighter than my H10 when lifted on to a rack. Whether that transpires into a noticeably more maneuverable bike is to be seen. I can say having ridden ~100 miles on an XL H10 is that I dont feel like it's slow to maneuver at all.
One thing to consider (and this is...
Agree. Dead simple. Only downside I heard is fast pad wear, but if you’re getting better braking power then that’s the trade off. Bleeding Magura vs shimano is another story.
Looks like thin rotors and resin pads may have been the weak links. Lol, tempted to take off the Maguras and give the XTs a shot.
The regular MT5 is 4 pot too. Looks like the green pads and a slightly different lever.
Hmm, good to know. Got jaded on shimano after riding the M6120s for a week. Maybe is was more a pad/rotor combination. Otherwise shimano brakes have always served me well.
How's that setup? There's a few good reasons to use Shimano brakes (easy bleeding, cockpit integration etc) over Magura. But at the end of the day all that matters is performance. Wonder if XT + better rotors and metallic pads are going to be as good as the MT5s alone
I swapped out the M6100s that came on the bike with M6120 (4 pistons) and 203 rotors and the improvement was minimal. Brakes still didnt have enough power on steep descents. So I'd save your money and time there. I cant believe the XTs would be that great of an improvement over the M6120s but...
