We saw the corporate on-message response to these issues on the live cast.
I appreciate the time Spesh took with the live cast, and the answers they gave, but to be fair they have only served to increase the FUD and frustration around the topic of water ingress.
Maybe Spesh will change...
Yes, Bosch is *better*, but still, if the motor dies for the first time at 25 months you have no cover...
Which leaves you in the odd situation of *wanting* your Bosch motor to die every other year :)
It's a problem with eMTBs that very few bike manufacturers offer extended warranties.
if Kia can offer 5 year warranty on new cars, why cant Spesh?
If I google, I can find some obscure eBike companies offering 4 years / 20,000 miles, which is great. But no main-stream manufacturers offer that...
Reasons to be optimistic about SL 1.1 motor reliability:
No belt drive
Higher official IP rating
Lower power output will almost certainly reduce wear and tear
Lower power output reduces the need for venting (less places for crud to enter)
It just can’t be as bad as the Brose / Levo Turbo, can...
One other relevant point: If any of the eeeb components fail out of warranty, there’s a sliding scale of discount on replacement parts. Spesh guy said it starts at 20-30% off one year after warranty... and *I think* he said there’s a reducing discount every year for 3 years?
Personally, I’d...
I heard something different, but this may just be me being pedantic:
The Spesh guy clearly said he didnt think there was a problem with water getting in to the Brose motor itself. He acknowledged that water and crud collected in the frame, which affects the (many) connectors on the *outside* of...
OKay, final question before I go order one, I promise:
Can anyone give me the down tube dimensions? If I'm gonna get this bike it needs to replace my eeeb and acoustic bike. One of the more esoteric requirements being it can be transported on the roof rack. So does it fit in a Thule ProRide...
I remain a bit skeptical about the claims that a Levo SL can go as far as a Turbo Levo...
But I would totally use the low power Eco and Trail modes. On my existing bike I always feel I need a lower support mode for my day long rides.
I also note the claims that the motor is 80% efficient...
Couple of things:
1. My (secure) storage has no power supply, so I'll be moving the Levo SL around the house to get it charged for a few hours then put away. Can 'live with that' but putting up with downsides is difficult when you're spending £7.5k.
2. I like to do day long rides, but wont be...
The killer feature for me would be if this is light enough for me to get up on the roof rack! I could then justify not having an eeb *and* an analogue bike... Just have one of these that I can easily take everywhere.
ROB could we get a video of you dead lifting the bike please? 10 reps, over...
"You best sign up then as the battery is removable"
I read somewhere else it's remove 8 bolts and the motor... Not gonna do that every evening to charge up inside the house...
Apologies for the non-eeb topic, but you folks are so helpful I'm hoping you can keep an eye out for any of these items stolen from me at the weekend :(
Taken from Bear Flat area of Bath, UK on Friday night (1st Feb).
Norco Fluid 2 HT, hardtail mountain bike. Green/yellow. XL frame. Distinct...
I've had this caused by three different things:
Bolts holding the *cover* over the motor (not the motor mount itself) needed tightening.
General gunk in the drive-train seemed to cause creaking around the motor/crank area.
Shoes laces slapping against the crank arm! Took me a while to work that...
