This of course assumes the rider has more than one bicycle. Since getting my Orbea Rise to go along with my Heckler MX, I now find myself having to think about which bike to ride.
Anyone have the same “dilemma”?
Thanks Rod, I appreciate the offer. The OC coast is beautiful. Especially Laguna Beach. One of my favorite spots. Given the topography, I bet there are some great open trails there. Salute!
I have the SC-EM800. I sometimes get Shimano’s nomenclature confused.
I don’t ride anything that gnarly so I’ll see how the stock suspension holds up. I do prefer the Pike on my Heckler to the Fox34 but the FOX Grip is very easy to adjust.
I did read your follow up on the Sc-EM800., I’m...
The interesting, so despite the sizable weight penalty you feel your Reign E-2 is more playful. Is the wheelbase on the 2022 longer. it seems the trend is longer and slacker with short chain stays
So possibly the weight more than the geometry is the contributing factor. Although the difference for me is approximately 5lbs. (2kg). Makes sense as this additional weight is mostly concentrated in the down tube.
I thought the Medium Rise being a full 29ner would feel less nimble so I’m...
This is an incredibly well written informative post. Much appreciated.
I bought Code RSC brakes in advance for my M20 as they are the same brakes (Code Rs) I have on my Heckler MX-S. I have to say, after riding the M20 for about 100 miles, I actually like the 6100 brakes. To me, they...
Both of these bikes are delightful rides. The Heckler is plush but more of a handful in tighter or more technical terrain whereas the Rise just feels a bit more nimble.
The reach for both bikes is nearly identical so I’m thinking perhaps the 20mm of extra wheelbase for the Heckler MX and the...
Had a few days on my Rise. Awesome bike. The EP8-RS has plenty of pull. The stock profile 1 is very low powered and does not show what the motor is capable of. Once I adjusted the settings in eTube, the power felt very comparable to the full torque EP8 in my Heckler MX-S.
What a great bike. the medium size and the 5 lbs weight savings makes it feel a bit more nimble than my large Heckler MX-S.
The Heckler does feel more plush though and a bit more premium but the Rise feels great too, very lively.
I‘m currently waiting for some adapter parts to come in...
I just bought a Rise to go with my Heckler MX. I find that I do most of my riding in eco mode on the Heckler so I don’t expect there to be any power issues with the Rise.
If I were you, I’d run your Bosch bike in eco and tour mode and see how you get along with it. That should get you a...
I am looking forward to receiving mine. I already have code RSC brakes and a new Shimano display to upgrade the bike. I’ve read on MTB forums that certain owners had their crank arms come loose with the cap falling off. Anyone else experience this and is there any remedy. I bought some...
Congrats. I love my Heckler MX-S. I ended up sizing up to a large and the Heckler has been absolutely stable and confidence building.
It’s a sheer joy to ride.
Sure there are heavier more aggressive enduro and downhill ebikes but imho the Heckler strikes the perfect balance between...
I decided to go with Dissectors front and back. Better rolling resistance than the minions and so far grip seems just as good although I am not doing any sort of high speed trail storming or pushing the bike to even 6/10ths of its limit.
Other than I probably should‘ve gotten the medium, I love this bike. I just fitted it with some Dissectors front and back, I’m going to see how that goes.
This thread has kinda gone of track but I will say this. It’s nice to see that even heated conversations between people of differing opinions can still occur -particularly at a time when cancelling or censoring seems de rigueur.
So my compliments to the staff and mods for having a...
I don’t know if anyone else experienced this. When I first got my Heckler MX-S, the Shimano EP8 motor was intrusively loud: like rustling plastic and paper. Now it is even more quiet than the Bosch CX 4 that came in my Trek Powerfly.
I still miss the extra pull of the Bosch especially on...
I decided the Minion DHF DHR2 are a little to heavy duty for my needs as I’d like less rolling resistance. I was considering the Rekons but the Dissectors max terra seem like they might be good comprise offering leas rolling resistance but plenty of traction. Anyone use these tire front...
Glad you got it working. I had a similar issue with my Heckler MX-S which turned out to be a loose wire.
How did you wife feel about the difference in power between the Bosch on the Trek Rail and the low torque motor on the comp SL?
I took an SL for a spin and missed the torque...
