So,
If you are planning to use a SpeedHub, then AFAIK, you can only use 19, 20, and 22 Tooth sprockets as those are the only available.
Minimum gear ratio for this hub is 1.90, so if you are using a 39T chainring, a 34T sprocket would be way below that and would break warranty. If you stick...
With the Super Deluxe the piggyback is mounted to the housing, whereas with the vivid its mounted on the shaft. My sense would be the shaft side mounted toward the seat tube with the piggyback on left side. Try that for starters.
Excellent progress. So how's the chainline looking with this piece of plywood?
BTW, what an cool idea to go single speed to get the tensioner mechanics worked out before committing to a internal gear hub setup. Even better, you could get a sense of what a single speed Voima would be like to...
Judging from the the subsequent picture you posted looks, like your setup is 29x29. Have you tried the bike in mullet config? The geometry of the Sonni seems to be dialed in for 27.5 rear, so saying that the bike is lively with 29x29, that's saying something.
Excellent! What is your bike config? What shocks are you using? As the second fellow on the forum who came from a Voima, we would like some more details on the clear differences but nuances as well. Have you ridden the bikes on the same trails? Do you sense the bike a progression from the...
Kudos tooFat. Excellent progress which begs the following:
BT1 is an available tensioner that can be purchased now, unlike the Nicolai tensioner at the moment.
Arguably this tensioner might be better for the Voima than the Sonni, simply because it is not transverse mounted like the Nicolai...
Found this interesting Instagram post that, as an aside of the subject matter, shows a free-body diagram of the Voima and Sonni suspensions. What's interesting is that core 4-bar characterics of each are effectively the same (pivot motions and directions are the same, albeit in different...
You're the first user in this group to own both. We would appreciate if you tease out more detail on ride characteristics. Like suspension performance and transparency, sag and shock turning (do you have a Vivid?), steering and lean-in, climbing, descending, stack/riser config, etc. Most of...
The PB review was the short-stroke Onni with no motor/battery, whose suspension design, according to Leo, took off both the top and bottom end of the travel. This ended up being the worst of both worlds - too stiff for the small stuff and easily bottoms out the big stuff. I would be very...
OK, it's been awhile, but it's worth providing and update on the belt tensioner search. With some help from tooFattoRIDE, we were able to zero in on the OEM maker and version of the tensioner that they can provide for this project:
As it stands, it works with Bosch CX motor, but as seen in...
Do share your results when you got it setup. Note that corresponding short linkage for the Sonni did not fare that well, at least according to Pinkbike: too harsh in the bottom-outs, even with a Vivid, and too stiff and levered for the small stuff, sort of the worst of both worlds. But then...
The Q factor is gated by the motor itself, as you alluded in your last sentence. Moreover it sets the inner limit on the chainline, where the bike is designed (specifically the swingarm area) for that purpose.
Did you ever weigh your Voima frame? Would like to see a weight comparison of your arriving Sonni as this short from Leo implies that there may not be much of a difference. Did you get a K1 or K2?
OK, I got a parts list from the Rohloff distributor in the U.S. that handles non-OEM E-14 bike integrations. On can feel goosed enough pricewise with just converting a bike to use a Rohloff hub, but adding electronic shifting adds to the sticker shock (R&M and Nicolai must get some heavy...
Maybe some kind of signed cert that is needed, but mainly Pole just needs to greenlight a Bosch servicer to load the tweaked firmware to support the E-14, much like allowing changing the speed limiter on a 29er Voima to a mullet configuration. It would be a drag if Pole doesn't play along...
