    Late hello from Annecy

Thanks, yes I can’t complain too much. The locals seem to have gone ebike crazy, so I thought I should join the party.

    Late hello from Annecy

I joined a week ago and just realised I missed this part. I’m fairly new to ebikes and forums. I bought a Canyon Spectral:On in April, so far so good. If anyone’s in the area give me a shout, I ride analog bikes too. Cheers Tom

How was your ride, in one picture and one line?

It’s all starting to feel a bit cluttered up front. I’ve a Garmin watch, so I think I’ll go back to that for the winter.

How was your ride, in one picture and one line?

Too much technology! Going to be my first winter on an ebike, I think the Garmin has to go!

Who here was asking for suspension set-up advice again?

Interesting, I ran that way when I had 36’s and they felt great, moved to Lyriks, set them up similar and it felt like i wasn’t getting the same front wheel grip, they felt wooden. I got chatting to a guy in one of the shops in Chamonix and he convinced me to try a couple of tokens and drop the...

Who here was asking for suspension set-up advice again?

Sounds like we’re riding similar terrain, I’m in Annecy and had similar dilemmas with the rock gardens and the super steep trails when I moved out from the UK. I’m riding 160 lyriks and have gone to 3 bottomless tokens, with the pressure set so they feel plush in the lower 1/2 of the travel...

Who here was asking for suspension set-up advice again?

I think it depends on the terrain you’re riding and how aggressive you are, generally you’re better with less pressure more bottomless tokens. If you can get your hands on a shock wiz for a weekend it really helps. You should definitely be getting more than 80% travel (and especially on the...

Which Bike To Buy? A buyers guide to the latest EMTB's

Canyon Spectra On xl is 485 reach, that’s a BIG bike! It’s longer than any of the Spec models.

    Answered Which HR Monitor ?

I’m 100% sure the Garmin only works with ant+ too. Definitely worth looking at some roadie websites on HR training, without power data it can be a super hit and miss as a training tool.

    Canyon Spectral:ON Saddle

I agree with Gary, I’m not convinced on the raised back, and quite sure it‘s been responsible for a few near misses, it makes no sense at all... It’s also certainly not the most comfortable I’ve had. Call me a cynic, but I think this trend for “ebike” specific saddles and parts in general is...

EMTB wannabe ... Canyon pedal strikes?

I find them great, I ride in the low/slack setting the whole time. I live in the French alps and am riding at lot of steep technical stuff and bike feels perfect, I wouldn’t change a thing.

    Answered First eBike Checklist

I’ve not found I’m taking anything different on the ebike to my regular bike, but I have found it a bit more prone to punctures. My ride kit is spare tube, co2, tire plug kit, mech hanger, split chain link, multitool, levers, zip ties and pump. Definitely agree with above, they’re hungry on...

A set of friends who also have ebikes is useful...otherwise you’ll be do a lot of waiting or ridding solo.

    What's your mileage ?

I think it depends on how well it’s been looked after and where it’s been ridden. I’ve done 1500 on mine, with a lot of ascent/descent, the motor seems fine, but I’m starting to get less out of the battery. I’m also not far off needing a new drive chain, new discs and a couple of the pivot...

    Official Canyon EMTB Thread

I didn’t even try the 150 yari, I decided to take them straight off and sell them new. The 160 feels good to me, I’m riding lots of technical rough descents. I do notice the front feels quite light on the very steep up hills, but it’s manageable. I’m planning to do the air shaft at the next...

    Official Canyon EMTB Thread

I agree, I couldn’t be happier. I’ve had mine since April this year, used it at least twice a week since and it’s been brilliant. I wanted the 8.0, but couldn’t wait so I bought the 7.0 and upgraded to lyrik 160’s and Code brakes, everything else is stock and still going strong.

EMTB wannabe ... Canyon pedal strikes?

I get one or two every ride in the low/slack setting, but it’s not enough to be a problem. I’ve set the suspension up with a shock wiz so I’m fairly confident it’s well sorted. Having said that, I’m running 160mm lyriks on the front, which I guess might push the bb height up a bit more than spec.

    E8000 - What’s your range?

It’s a brilliant bike. I live in the French alps and it transformed my riding, pre ebike ridding involved hours of grinding up roads and gravel, followed by a 15min descent, now I can get 3 or 4 descents done in a ride. In terms of the bike, it’s the first bike I’ve bought where I’ve not felt...

    E8000 - What’s your range?

Sounds like the battery’s fine, maybe I should try with some faster rolling tires for big days. Thanks for your comments
