Great to see a key player entering the GMU space.
I wonder how it will stack up against Revonte One and Intra-Drive.
To me the Revonte One seems to have a few advantages over the Pinion but they are not doing anything on the E-MTB marked and are more geared towards city bikes and cargo bikes...
Both Pole and Revonte are based in Finland, so I am kinda supriced that they havn`t teamed up already. @leo_kokkonen ?
The Pole Voima also looks perfect for a belt drive system because of the lack of a Chain Stay. Other bikes have to split up their frame to be able to put on a belt drive (or be...
Pinion did have motor/gearbox prototype at one point. I wonder what happen to it? Seems like it`s up to Valeo/effigear, Intra-drive and Revonte now.

Unless they make a revolutionary superlight and powerfull hub motor for the digital drive, it just won’t make much sense on an eMTB.
For Cargo bikes and city bikes on the other hand it makes much more sense and is already in use today.
Podbike is a velomobile that is working on that principle...
Look up Digital Drive….or Series Hybrid Pedelec” as it’s also called.
Something they have soften on regulations not to long ago

Having a hub motor adds to much weight on a FS bike (unless...
Unsprung weight and Suspension performance…..
a major disadvantage with IGH is the added unsprung weight it adds. That will affect the suspension performance on a FS bike. Kindernay VII is one of few who have closed the weight gap to derailleur systems, but it’s still a few hundred grams...
The Pole Voima would be cool with a belt drive.
With a Kindernay Vii or even a gearbox/motor option like the Revonte One.
Have anyone though of putting a kindernay VII and Gates Belt drive on the Voima? I would love to see someone try. @Rob Rides EMTB and @leo_kokkonen are you up for it?😅 Maby...
Revonte seems to be a perfect match for a Full Suspension bike. The low unsprung weight on the rear wheel will defenetly have it`s benefits. To bad they havn`t tried it out yet.
The one that looks most promising is the Revonte system. Just to bad it will depend on the bike manufacture to build their frame around it.
Maby @leo_kokkonen should make a Pole Voima with the REvonte motor? A Finnish motor on a Finnish bike that has a frame screams “put a belt drive on me!” is...
Nice ^^
Looking GOOD.
Definitely on the top of my dream bike list.
Have anyone tried to put a Kindernay Vii and Gates belt drive on this Beauty?
That swingarm begs for a belt drive. (No need to split the frame to use a belt)
Would it?
To me it seems that it is a regulation issue and due to the complexity of physically combining the riders input with the motor? Digital drive would remove that. There has also been some regulation changes that has opened up for “digital drive“ systems. I think Podbike posted about this...
I've been considering adding a Kindernay Vii and Gates belt drive to either a Pole Voima or an Orange Phase MX, but I’m to broke and into dept 😅. However, both bikes are well-suited for a belt drive since there's no need to split the frame to mount it, unlike the Nicolaj Eboxx E14.
While the...
The Kindernay Vii is 1,2kg compared to the rollhoff wich is about 1.7kg unsprung weight?
If you take a reguler dereilure system with the gears, dereilure and hub, the weight penalty with the kindernay vii is not that much. But of course moving the gears to the mid drive would make it better...
Effigear and Valeo have made a motor gearbox combination that they display on their prototype emtb’s . Definitly interesting.
But for now I think my choice would be a kindernay Vii with a Gates Carbon belt on a Pole Voima super enduro emtb. The kindernay is not to far off the weight of a...
