What's the thought on derestricting the MGU? It looks like it has a standard magnet pickup on the rotor for a speed reading, but surely the fixed gear ratio between the MGU and the wheel will make it difficult?
On a bike with a derailleur you can hide a delay of the reported speed signal (say...
Hi Thuppu,
Check out my post here: MEGABOBRA: Bosch Smart System Derestriction for Rim Magnet - DIY Project with Support
I've got lots of Km's now, along with OLED display various options, but you your success will depend on your motor firmware version.
PS my code progressively introduces the...
Howdy Robby,
Sadly it's not working on later/current Bosch motor firmware. Bosch seem to have tightened requirement of the magnetic field it's looking for meaning the simple electromagnet coil is no longer sufficient.
My unit is still running OK after ~1500km now but I'm back on firmware ~5 or...
Which ones did you try? I've got a set of the Cooma golds on the way to try out; they seem to get some good feedback, or at least that they're no worse than OEM pads.
Quick Q for the mechanics: I've installed a new set of 220m HS2 rotors but can see the some uneven pad contact. Photo attached shows that the rear rotor has a strip around the outer edge with no contact and is still shiny/fresh from factory.
The existing metallic pads had a light sand and...
When I moved from LED remote to Purion in Nov23 there was no need for the dealer, just a resync through the app. Assuming later firmware hasn't changed that?
I'm a sucker for watching the figures while riding, so being able to see speed/distance/time etc was a great upgrade over the LED remote...
I was keen on doing the same until I watched the rockshox video. For me, the risk is too high that I'll get air somewhere it's not meant to be when bleeding it, and it'll end up worse than when I started!
Maybe if I treat the Zeb to a 200hr service at a shop, I'll ask that they install the 3.1...
Could be, but if the car before your swap used helical, surely they're strong enough for a bike? I wonder if it's just a means of reducing cost, whereby the straight cuts are cheaper to produce? Risky though when people are 'a bit' sensitive to motor noise ;)
The helical gears do introduce a...
Here's a quick look inside the Pinon MGU:
https://www.youtube.com/shorts/7mQnWuk0drU
I wonder why they don't use more helical cut gears (sloped teeth rather than straight cut) inside these? There's one visible in the top right, but the remainder look to be straight. It'd certainly cut down on...
So I know there's been several mentions about the inability to weld 7000 series alloys, ruling out a weld fix for these cracks. But I mean, Nicolai's new Saturn 16 is 7020 and it's all welded together. Google says some 7000's are fine to weld while others are not.
Maybe Pole's is fine?
