    Tyre change

@hogicid Remove the wheel and remove a lot of air pressure. Have enough pressure that the tyre stays on the rim. Grip the tyre with both hands (where the mould line has dipped below the rim) and wave the wheel about, using the wheel weight to move the tyre on the rim. Once the mould line on the...

Another new chunky double black trail ticked off -Vid!

Another cracking video! I would have struggled with that. I'm sure that I could hear you clipping in and out frequently; have you tried flats? I used to ride clipped in until the trails I was riding started to get rockier and rockier. Riding flats gave me much more confidence because I...

    Shimano EP8 bug!?

I have an EP8. Would you explain what you mean by "arrives at 8% immediately passes to 2%.." It's the "passes to" phrase that I don't understand (although @RustyIron obviously does).

Too much play in my cassette?

There is no need to pay your LBS to do this, unless it's under warranty of course. But even so, waiting for them to do it and the trip to and from the LBS (maybe twice) can all be avoided. If you have the tools required, a chain whip, a socket of the correct size and either a spanner or the...

Muc off big bore tubeless valve

Has anyone fitted a set of these? https://muc-off.com/collections/big-bore-tubeless-valves?page=1 Despite always leaving my bike parked with the valves at the bottom, my Presta valves get clogged with sealant on a regular basis. So I like the idea of the new valve from Muc-off. With approx...

Too much play in my cassette?

I had loose sprockets on a Shimano cassette and it turned out to be a failure of the rivets that hold one of the gear clusters together. The cassette had been an aftermarket purchase and the supplier only wanted a few pics and I got a new one straight away.

Not particularly, you really need to use the manual that comes with it. DO NOT LOSE IT!!!!

    Cycle Helmets

I have broken every single helmet I have ever owned, apart from the full face and the open face that I own right now (and they are on borrowed time!) The internet is full of pictures of smashed helmets that saved riders from a crippled or brain damaged life. Do not forget that although you...

Haibike violent out of balance rear wheel

Has the bike been sat for quite a while and it started when you ride it for the first time in ages, or has the problem slowly got worse. Have you done something to the bike and the problem started afterwards? If the bike has been sat a while, is it possible that the sealant has hardened and it...

Saying hello and hesitant about going full VTT/eMTB

Get a full suspension emtb, have fun on the trails. When you want to go touring, pump up the suspension, or lock it out whatever you have to do to firm it up. Then either change tyres for something more roady OR just pump up the mtb tyres. Sell the hard tail emtb now while it is still young.

    Forum Software - Automated Translation???

I too worked with many nationalities. Slowly I discovered that the key to communication were not singular but multiple: There were 17 different languages in the areas I worked, I could not learn them all. So I resolved to speak English as clearly and simply as I could. Firstly, don't rely on...

Strengthened garage door - suggestions, advice or recommendations?

Those springs will have a huge amount of stored energy when compressed. Be very careful, if you make a mistake because you are bodging the lack of the correct tools, it could be a nasty lesson for you and anyone else in a 50m radius.

Concision can be over-rated. We are dealing with a multi-cultural, non-native English speaking audience. We are not all Brits, hell, even the Scots and the Geordies are different to people from Yorkshire.

    Forum Software - Automated Translation???

Google Translate works for me. In an idle moment I translated an English phrase to German. Then pasted in the German phrase and translated it back to English to compare. Not the same. Successive back and forth got further and further away from the original. That sounds a bit like passing verbal...
