Not sure it should be name and shame - can hardly blame an LBS (who from all reports are run of their feet) from wanting paying to make a change on a bike we all bought from a sports supermarket. Its not an essential change - I'm planning on leaving mine till I get some more important work done...
Well after a couple of decent shakedown rides I commuted the 14 miles to work on it this morning and while I was about 10 minutes short of my PB on the road bike I got here with energy to spare and wasnt as hot and sweaty as I would be otherwise. Mostly tarmac and gravel this morning and no bars...
This perfectly describes my situation too. Im coming to this from my trusty old ‘97 Specialized FSR so its such a big jump im probably not as aware of its short comings.
Like you i couldnt stop smiling during the ride.
I think i must have got lucky as brakes are good and shifting is nice and slick. As expected the saddle sucks so ill be swapping that out. Had a quick blast round my local trails this evening and barely had to go out of ecco mode.
I need to read up on walk mode as we have an interesting bridge...
Glad its arrived Rob. The brakes are worrying though. I can handle pretty much most repairs and maintenance but coming from v brakes, bleeding disc brakes might involve a learning curve.
Just had a call from Panther (the courier) confirming if tomorrow was ok to deliver, so two days later than the email I got but still two days earlier than expected. I'm happy, best to have it tomorrow and have the weekend to play.
