In the UK, it's completely out of control. Before covid, the use of illegal e-scooters and electric motorcycles could have been nipped in the bud, but during covid, millions of them were sold and used, so it's become totally un policeable. Various police forces keep saying they will have a...
So if the nominal output is raised to 500W, what would the peak output be raised to? There already seems to be a big disparity between nominal and peak outputs, and no one seems to know how they are measured anyway? 500W at 15.5 mph will only show itself on very steep hills, my 250W Levo will...
It's dead easy to install a CD / DVD drive in your PC, if you haven't already got one.
Vinyl died off decades ago, and it's now back big time, and there are billions, if not trillions of CD's and DVD's lurking out there, sooner or later, people will want to play them again. The format will be...
The word E-bike should not be used, as it wraps up all electric small transport in one mis-understood word.
Pedelecs, ie electric mountain and road bikes, are absolutely not the electric motorcycles that are causing all the problems and deaths, but we are all being blamed for deaths caused by...
It's really weird - derailleur gear systems are a brilliant, yet appalling design. On paper, they are a messy idea that breaks all engineering principles, and are doomed to failure. Somehow the reality is they are generally quite reliable. But the main reason for continued use after 100 years...
My Levo is 3 1/2 years old on the original motor and original firmware from summer 2020. The motor seems like it will last a while longer, so probably pass its warranty period, but if it did fail before then, I think I'd pay to have it rebuilt so as to keep the firmware that works fine with the...
My Levo Turbo is derestricted, and find I ride at around 20mph, maybe 22mph, but I find the cadence too high on standard gearing going any faster. If my bike was restricted to 20mph, and knowing what I know now, I doubt I'd bothered derestricting it. 4.5mph extra doesn't sound much on paper, but...
Exactly that! Climbing a hill below 15.5mph in turbo mode puts the maximum strain on everything. Restriction has nothing to do with taking the strain off things, it's arbitrary laws created by governments not bike manufacturers.
Edited now I've looked at the video again on a proper size screen. It originally looked as though the image was flipped, as happens with selfies. So it's not being back pedalled, but it shouldn't be making that screeching sound! Yes, it does show some slight resistance, but nothing you would...

The proof is in understanding how the motors work, and that the sprag clutch completely disengages ALL the motor and gearbox when pedalling. There is a very very tiny bit of resistance in the sprag clutch which is totally unnoticeable. All the rest is just the weight of bike and tyres, or...
The motor should not provide any resistance and stop you pedalling, the sprag clutch only allows the motor to provide drive, not resistance, if it does, the sprag clutch is faulty, and isn't disengaging.
The only resistance to pedalling when the motor is off or overridden, is the resistance of...
A pedalec e-bike is classified the same as a clockwork bike, you must have to pedal to make it work (no throttle allowed), and it must be restricted to 15.5mph
An electric bike with a throttle, and all e-scooters are classified as motor vehicles, and you need a licence to ride them. hence drink...
I don't often wash my bike, just brush off the worst mud and GT85 the drive components. My first motor cable failed immediately after washing it, so I'm very reluctant to get any unnecessary water on the bike.
These motors seem to fail regularly, but what are the main failing components now they have been failing for a few years?
What I'm aware of is shattered sprag clutches caused by pedal strikes, are these uprated now?
Water ingress into the crank seals causing seized bearings and sprag clutches...
I'm ready to renew all the drive train on my 2020 Levo Turbo. So I'm after a Sram 11sp cassette, chain, jockey wheels and front ring. I've no idea what range of Sram components are factory fitted, whether they are generic or eMTB specific, and where to source them from in the UK, apart from...
I'm going to perform a little experiment -
I'll set up smart control for my usual 30 - 35 mile ride with around 2000 feet of climbs, then switch off the app, and see if the bike TCU is still in any kind of smart mode. I assume it will give the same calculated assistance through the whole ride...
Mmmm, seems this isn't a common issue, or no one is using Smart control.
On normal Mission control of the % assistance settings, the app only connects to the bike to set those settings, and when set, they stay like that for ever more without connecting the app to the bike.
I assume the Smart...
If I set the bike to Smart Control, all works fine until I stop for a break, and the bike times out and turns itself off. On powering up, the app gives a warning that the bike has disconnected and asks me if I want to continue the ride - NO / YES. So I press YES, and the GO arrow to restart the...
