So much stuff coming loose on these... They publish all the torques for the suspension linkages etc but not for the bolts holding the motor onto the bike along with a bunch of other stuff? Do they think these should never come loose or something? :|
No real locking nuts on this motor - just 6 straight bolts with Torxplus heads. I figure the reason my bolt came loose in the first place is maybe that the carbon around the bolt hole was never 100% and that allowed the bolt to loosen (The other bolts seemed fine when I first checked).
Yeah, it seems like an issue across various models of Cube bikes but I haven't seen any others where the frame has done this.
Not sure if 2020 bikes are the first ones with carbon frames?
That shop is halfway across the country since it was the only shop with stock at the time. It might come to that eventually I can't just nip over there at the moment.
I recently bought a Cube Stereo Hybrid 160 and as per some discussions in other threads, I've started experiencing issues with this bike (250 or so miles done).
I've been trying to get in touch with Cube for some assistance but this is proving to be difficult since they can't manage to receive...
I guess yours must be a different model? Mine is a 2020 Stereo Hybrid 160. The motor is mounted with 6 bolts that have Torx Plus 40 heads.
I'd seen those figures before but I figured they might be for the last gen Bosch motor instead of this new one since it had different size bolts etc than...
Been there, done that sadly! Did you torque them up to a specific tightness or just guesstimate it?
I've been trying to get official figures from Cube but no response yet (looks like my initial email from their website got blocked but I got a response to my follow up email asking if there was...
Did you get your creaking sorted in the end? Battling my own creak at the moment on my 2020 Cube :/
Did you have much trouble dropping the motor out? Was there much to disconnect once you got the bolts out?
So... Since my last update, I've gotten myself some Torx Plus bits :)
I hadn't heard back from Cube yet so called Hargroves Cycles at the weekend since the Cube site listed them as a premium dealer so I figured they might know the specific torque settings for my 2020 stereo hybrid 160. The guy...
Might want to specify which bikes you have to make it a bit easier. Might also want to post it in one of the more general sections as you might get more feedback. It might be enough to make a decision with even if it isn't specific to your bike.
If you don't have much luck here then you could...
Interesting, thanks! Still waiting to hear back from Cube to find what torque they recommend. I've seen a post on here which listed nm figures to use but these were from Bosch so I had no idea if that takes into account the frame being carbon or alu :/
Might as well try and get the right torx...
I find my headset comes loose quite easy on my 160 HPC SL and I notice this because of the creaks. I just loosen the two bolts on the stem and tighten the cap a bit before doing the two stem bolts up again. Creak goes away for a while then but seems to come back. Only just got a proper torque...
Well I managed to pick up a Topeak digital torque wrench on ebay for a decent price and got myself a crank puller that fits (my old park tools one didn't fit these cranks on my stereo hybrid 160 from this year).
Removed cranks and the bash guard before removing each motor bolt and cleaning...
The Torx screws/bolts are tight from what I can feel. I meant for some reason, my Torx 40 bits seem to fit loosely into the heads of those bolts/screws that hold the motor in which is weird. Torx is normally a fairly snug fit like I get on my Maguras that have Torx 25 heads but the 40s on the...
Got the green/sharp green colour one myself and have had it a few months now.
With regard to the motor noise from videos, it definitely seems louder in videos but I think that goes for any of different motors imo. Most seem to sound louder in videos. Once you get the wind whistling by your ear...
Hi,
I'm fairly new to the emtb world (had my Cube Stereo Hybrid 160 for a few months now). Joined here since I've seen some of Rob's videos on youtube and this seems like a good place for some emtb specific chat :D
Currently troubleshooting a creak on my 2020 Cube Stereo Hybrid and it definitely sounds like it's down somewhere near the motor.
Not sure if anyone can confirm the size of Torx bit? It seems to be a Torx 40 but the two bits I have feel too small and it wiggles more than I would expect. I have...
