The 2022 Giant Trance E+ rear stay length. It is an issue?

This was on the Penzance Bay to Elaine Bay walking/mtb track. Grade 3 & 4 track. A month ago I had a big 'OFF" at this point. Landed on my back about 15-20 metres down the steep slope. Saved from serious injury by my full face helmet and day pack filled with compressed bubblewrap etc. 2.5 km...

The 2022 Giant Trance E+ rear stay length. It is an issue?

Christchurch is a great place. Had a daughter and her family living there for a few years, and my wife and I used to visit every 6 weeks or so. All the family now live in Blenheim, so I am keen to ride the Christchurch Adventure Park MTB tracks some day before I get too old!!!!. Ski Lift...

The 2022 Giant Trance E+ rear stay length. It is an issue?

You won't regret it. NZD9,500 is not a lot for the specs. They do have a longer chain stay, but that has its advantages. Giant are renowned for more bangs for your dollar. At least a thousand dollars cheaper than for the equivilant spec'd Specialized. I ride with geriatrics, and I am the only...

Careful Out There, Respect the Power

Was this the adventurer and his mate, who the week before, ran around the base of the 3 mountains in the centre of the North Island?

Careful Out There, Respect the Power

I had a good 'off' on the 4 March. Grade 4 track with very little elevation which indicates it was probably a Grade 4+. ( A riding mate a year or so earlier, had a bad fall from a track into a creek bed 3-4 metres below track (landed on his back). all that saved him from more serious injuries...

Let’s Be Careful Out There - Cannock Chase Mugging

Goodness me. I live in NZ and my new insurance premiums for: my home ($675,000), contents ( incl Giant Trance +1 pro -($60,000), 2019 Honda Civic RS turbo ($35,000) and 2006 Suzuki Swift ( $5,500) annual premium for them all NZD $2,486. ( 1317 English Pound ) I know that is like comparing...

Old blokes who should know better.....

That's not old!!!! I ride with geriatrics between the ages of 65-84. We no longer 'do' jumps or Grade 4 tracks up. The penalty for failure is too high. Last 'off' was on a grade 3 and 4 track. Small rocks and tree roots everywhere and at all angles, some wet parts. Speed and body position...

    Pedaling resistance with motor off

Thanks Bearing Man, your expert contributions to this site are so helpful. Many well-intended comments just confuse the issue at times. I am a simple man who appreciates expert advice. I ride with a geriatric lot nick-named by other more sensible geriatrics, as the " suicide quad" . 'On...

How long should a cassette last?

I have a 2019 Giant Trance +1 Pro. Roughly 50% of my riding is on a river trail to the MTB Park and then home again. Most of the year is dry tracks, sometime dusty, very little riding in mud or slush. The bike is lightly washed (spray) after every ride, and chain is wiped down on a work stand...

How frequently are you charging your bike?

I'm riding every alternative day. I charge the battery to full charge as soon as it comes inside after a gentle wash. After coming up three years since new, and 10,550 km, the battery is going to outlast me!!!!!!

Newbie with way too much bike.

Interesting. That is approx. USD$1000 cheaper than the NZ RRP ( recommended retail price)( NZD $12,500). Comparing similar spec'd Giant and Specialized e-MTBs, Giant gives you more bangs for your buck. I can hardly wait to get my hands on my Levo Turbo Comp! Hope I am not disappointed. Good...

Newbie with way too much bike.

Nice!! Same bike (but red) supposed to be in my hands inside a month. Replacing a 2019 Giant Trance +1 Pro which has served me well for over 10,000 kilometres with no motor problems. Will be sad to see it go. If you don't mind me asking, what was the cost in USD$?

Article When will we have better ebike batteries?

Well spoken. I have just turned over 10.000km on my Yamaha ( 2019 Giant Trance +1 Pro (500Wh) motor without fault ( touch wood) and battery 177 full cycles. Battery expected to last 700-1000 full cycles. I have no complaints and I might add at least 50% of my mileage is biking to/from the...

How frequently are you charging your bike?

I've read my Giant manual. ( Giant Trance +1 Pro) I ride with a geriatric bunch three times a week, so I charge my battery after I have washed ( lightly) and dried and WD40'd moving parts. If I don't charge after every ride, I am inclined to forget!!! As per manual, I completely drain my...

Auckland NZ Bike Rent, Beg, Borrow, Steal

Know how you feel. LBS South Island said Specialized e-mtbs pushed back to December. I suspect it will be 2022. Bloody frustrating but guess it is the same for all e-mountain-bikers around the world if you are waiting for Giant or Specialized.

    2022 release date for Specialized/Giant E-MTBs

Any information yet when 2022 Specialized/Giant range of E-MTBs are going to be released in New Zealand. LBS's keep moving the release date out. Now December!!

Cheaper Parts... but will they survive?

An empty box! Lol. Reminded me of an advertisement in a NZ National weekly newspaper back in the 1960's. Ad. was for a fly killer with a moneyback guarantee. The gullible paid up their money, and received a package containing two small blocks of wood marked 'A' & 'B'. The instructions were...

    Extra large pedals?

I note you are a new member. That's fine, experienced members ( including Gary) are very happy to give advice, and most of us have gained experience the hard way. It would have helped if you mentioned the type of MTB riding you do, and also your experience. For all we know, you could be a...
