Just put my $6k ebike on the contents insurance with NRMA. Cost me $50 for the year and it covers it when I take it out. We have both cars with them too.
I think it's about accessibility and infrastructure. If they were just restricted to the road then I could see it being possible but at the moment I wouldn't want someone doing 40-50km/h on the footpaths used to access the city. People struggle just getting along and avoiding others on those...
This is exactly right.
It's pretty unsafe riding on the road, particularly in peak hour, and the bike paths almost never link up as well making getting into the city even harder.
Second hand bike sales are booming and so bike theft is booming too.
Thanks for that.
The Giant is the only one I have ridden off road and that was the SX Pro and I loved it with the coil rear shock. But...I feel the geometry seems to be on the older side of things particularly compared to the Merida. Both the Giant and Merida I would feel comfortable with...
The trek is the only one I havent been able to see and sit on in the flesh but will try this week. The only thing I worry about with it is that it has a long wheelbase and chain stays.
I didnt realise Shimano had new motors coming out too. Even though all the prices rose a fair bit this year I...
Just sold my bike and time to get my first ebike. I have narrowed it down to these 4 as they are all around the same price and below $6k AUD. I trail ride mainly with a little bit of jumps and want to get better at going down. I dont have the time to do all day epics so big batteries arent a...
I've been looking at ebikes for the Brissy area and reckon a Reign is overkill for the trails available here. Trance would be my choice. $6k gets you the Trance E+1 and the Reign E+2 was available for $5.4k a couple of weeks ago so you should be able to get it for that now.
Coming up to June is when the bargains normally happen as they get ready for the new year models to come in. Merida and Cube tend to be the cheapest from 99 bikes. Checkout bikeexchange.com.au if you havent already to see pricing Australia wide and ex-demo bikes.
From the type of riding you have talked about above and in your first post then I don't think I would get one if I was in your position. To me it would make sense if you plan to explore more and do more climbing but otherwise, for one hill, it just doesn't make sense.
They seem to be having a good sale at the moment. Will check them out more when I get closer to buying. Giant seem to be discounting a bit at the moment.
In Brisbane. Not planing to buy until the June, just trying to figure out what I want and need at the moment. Prices are dropping at the moment though. Trek LT and Giant Reign E+1 are both under $6k.
Thanks Mate, didn't realise it had the smaller motor. Have been trying to find out more about it but there doesnt seem to be much info or user experience around about it. Also, the limited edition is $1300 more expensive where I am.
I know it's the base model but I cannot find any reviews on them.
What are peoples thoughts about it?
Also, I would prefer to switch it out with a coil shock as I really liked it on a Giant emtb.
Can anyone foresee any issues doing this?
Thanks
