Hi,
My friend has a Trek Powerfly 5 with the Bosch CX4 motor. When the bike is turned on the Purion display activates and stays on. Once he starts to pedal the display turns off after a few pedal revolutions. Before it turns off the speed can be seen, so it must be receiving wheel data.
Anyone...
Since my post I’ve been using them during the winter months. I agree that they are not the grippiest tyre, but they do wear well. I find them heavy, slow rolling and easily clogged with mud. I certainly would not get them again. I now have a Specialized Butcher on the front and just use the rear.
Update on my situation. I went the LBS / Madison route. LBS ran diagnostics, which basically said there is a ‘communication error’! LBS sent data file to Madison, 1 week later they asked for the motor to be sent to them. 2 weeks later, after some nagging from LBS, Madison agreed to give me a...
Thanks again. Also not sure about VAT and taxes. I’d rather pay a bit more and get from a UK supplier. The difference, as a percentage of the overall cost, is minimal.
Hi Spiff,
Thanks for looking, someone sent me this link in another post.

I have ascertained that my current display (SC-E8000) is not compatible. I found this compatibility document in another post...
Great work, well done so far. I’m in the process of replacing a broken, out of warranty e8000, motor with Madison. They charge £920 for it, so paying slightly more for the EP8 is worthwhile. I realise that the display, switch and some adapters are needed but this seems worthwhile. It would be...
My e8000 has failed (E010 / W0013) and I’m out of warranty. This seems like a good way of upgrading, especially considering that an e8000 from Madison is £ 920. I had a quick look online for the adapters and the only place that seems to sell them is a shop in Italy (on eBay). Ridiculous delivery...

@Spiff, thanks I did see that and it is a concern. The other ‘issue’ is that the seller offers a 2 year warranty, but the motor has to be returned to Germany for them to evaluate! I’m still hopeful that Madison can sort me out and I don’t mind paying extra to get a UK warranty.
@ Thimlicek, thanks for your prompt reply. The main reason for my question is that I am in the UK and wanted to know what duties and fees are payable (I know that I will have to pay 20% VAT). Since you are in the EU these will not be an issue for you.
I ran Eddy Current front and rear tyres during the wet winter months. They are heavy but bullet proof. I would that they offered less grip than a Magic Mary, but more than a Hans Dampf. One thing that I noticed is that they have quite a lot of drag. They will be good for hard pack and rocky...
Mines a 2019 VRS. I’ve had it for just over 3 years now and done just over 4000 km as I tend to ride my analogue bike a lot more and keep the VRS for E-bike group rides. Changed nothing, just regular maintenance. I run it in 50% setting for each mode and that seems plenty enough for me. I can...
