I use FUNN mamba pedals. Flat one side and clipless on the other. I can ride clipped in then if I need to flip the pedal over and ride on flat side. Best of both.
You could put it in the rear wheel as that takes the biggest hits. As for balance, I don’t think it makes much of a difference as it doesn’t weigh much.
Hi. Have you thought about Tannus armour inserts. I’ve been using them for a few months, and they seem to do the job. I’ve added slime to the tubes for extra protection and I’m able to run lower tyre pressures.
Keep your muc off bottle and fill it with gear oil. It’s much cheaper than “specific “ lubes. I use it on my triumph speed triple and bicycle chains with no problems. Just don’t use too much.
