oh most definitely I can accept that. Carbon isn't indestructible. Although I wouldn't say I've been lucky either because I've had some good crashes on multiple manufacturers carbon frames.
All the carbon frames I've been on were:
9ZERO7 Carbon Whiteout (fat bike)
2012 Trek Session 9.9
2019 Trek...
haha yup, they have pretty much everything for the Levo. not in "one" full kit but multiple parts, all the same. Then a few extra special ones for the Magura brakes and AXS components as well.
I'm a huge fan of carbon! I've been running carbon frames for over 10 years including my full on DH bikes ridden all over Alaska crashing down mountain sides etc. Never had a single issue with any of my frames ever.
although I was never concerned about it, carbon is like anything other material...
I'm 6' so just a tad taller. Before I sat on one, I was on the fence between S3 and S4 as well thinking that normally I'd sacrifice some climbing ability on the S3 buuuuut it's an eMTB so who cares :)
However, then I went to a shop and sat on an S4 and instantly knew that I didn't even want to...
alright, right or wrong, I made some decisions and placed some orders today!
Cascade Link - Long Shock Kit version
EXT E-Storia
Avalanche damper cartridge with additional hybrid coil option
Fox 170mm air cartridge to up the front travel
Now for the worst part...waiting! haha
Haha I can definitely see that in many situations!
However, I enjoy some trails where I’m throwing my bike on my shoulders (literally) and hiking up on super techy trails. No way I’m carrying the Levo on my back up a mountain 😂 but that’s also getting into the territory of my DH bike.
But for...
😂 I’ve heard that about him, which is unfortunate. I know couple people like that in the motorcycle industry.. really great at what they do but they are a$$holes. It definitely affects the overall product experience.
What EXT do you have? I’ve read through this thread but don’t recall who’s who...
haha thanks, yeah options are a good thing!
I know I'm ordering the Cascade long shock kit, I may go with the EXT E-Storia shock because getting it through Cascade will give me a deal and I can work directly with them to make sure it's setup for the link and my style/weight etc. Still deciding...
haha yeah to be honest, on my other bikes with the clutch derailleurs and a narrow/wide chainring, I'm fairly certain a chain guide isn't needed.
But, it's also not in the way, it fits without issues, so I'll just leave it or now.
But yes, I completely agree, most likely not needed :)
well today I got in a full true ride, in the actual daylight. goodness it was fun! I rode trails that I would normally ride on my Evil Wreckoning (which is my do everything bike). it handled the chunky downhill stuff much better than I expected. landing small jumps were a little harsh but I also...
Sweet, good to know! I went with Magura MDR-P's on my Turbo Levo because I was running the MT7's, not that I had to use their rotors, which are 2.0mm.
When it's time to replace these I will throw on some Hope floatings because I still think they are the best looking. and besides, I'm only 160lbs...
I’ve been happy with anything Hope I’ve used so far which is their brakes and rotors mainly.
For their brakes I like how they also offer customizable parts such as anodized adjustment knobs. They have good modulation too if you fancy that.
Aside from my Turbo Levo, I actually run their...
Btw, here’s a couple quick pics showing the stock chain guide with a 36T chainring.
It’s not touching the chain at all but I’ll probably remove one of the spacers/washers to bring it a tad inwards towards the frame so it’s more centered.
If you’re in the U.S., can you share the shop details for whom you worked with to build the Ohlins? I’m considering the TTX22 M.2 but I don’t want “normal” ☺️
A few days ago I pulled the trigger on a 2022 Specialized Turbo Levo (Expert) and immediately began some slight mods because customizing is fun :) But I've actually never even ridden one on a trail. I did a quick parking lot test with the one I bought but that's all.
About an hour before the...
I installed a 36T today, I was in a rush and saw your post so simply just cut my new chain to 120 links, everything seemed to work out OK in the stock position. I'll have to flip the chip and see if a 118 length is really needed. I would imagine you could get by with maybe playing with the B...
From what I’ve gathered so far (from the big Levo thread) is that the full kit does work, but depending on which kit the chain line might not be perfect. But still totally functional.
