Okay, good to know, thank you. So, let me pose you a question: I ride to work, which leaves me with not quite enough charge to get home again, so should I just top up with an hour or so of charging, so that I can get home again, or should I fully charge the battery before I set off home? From...
It's not about winning, I'm just trying to find out where this advice is coming from? As I said above, just using Spesh as an example, there is nothing in the manufacturer's tech bumpf that says you shouldn't fully charge the battery, but there are clearly a lot of people who believe otherwise...
The Specialized SL manual says to regularly charge the battery to a minimum of 60% (94% for the range extender), but for extended periods of storage it should be charged to at least 30-39% (33-94% for the range extender). It says nothing about not keeping it fully charged.
I never know what to think about what, I'm sure, is very well meaning advice, such as in this thread. Whenever I have spoken to people in the ebike business (which granted, isn't hugely frequently), I'm told to follow the advice in the owner's manuals. I do this, religiously, and have never had...
Ah, gotcha! In that case, I would look at the reach measurements and the top tube measurement. If you want a bike that's a touch more playful, go shorter, if you want stability, go longer. I've not ridden the 2019 model, but my impression of the 297 model is that it feels shorter than the...
If all you want is a bigger battery, just get that for your existing bike and save yourself a ton of cash. The BT-E8016 battery should fit your frame, though check that for certain before you order.
Yeah, I teach suspension mechanics, so have no qualms doing it myself. Even something like a Super-Deluxe can be stripped by a competent person who has the right tools. Only issues are when you need proprietary tooling and/or nitrogen charging.
Interesting to hear your thoughts on the Zeb. The...
Ah, gotcha. Yeah, I did really uhm and ahh over whether to get a Domain and later upgrade it to a Zeb, but thought I'd try something new. Have to say that, so far, I'm really happy with it. Want to see how it goes come servicing time, as it's purported to be one of the easiest forks around for...
I get what you mean, but why should they need to? If someone is too brand conscious to buy one of these forks, that's their loss. SR are getting their forks on some premium bikes now, sponsored riders I mean. I don't think it'll be too long before they're more accepted. That said, I have been...
No worries, thank you. I got mine directly from Moore Large (the UK distributor) but there seems to be few of them available in retail outlets right now. My guess is that the 2022 model isn't far away, so stocks should replenish once they get released. Even at the full retail price of £699, this...
Well, it's been a long time coming but I finally managed to get out and start putting my E-Sommet 297 through it's paces. For info, as seen in these photos, this bike has cost me £3,125.06, once I've taken into account the savings on new parts and money gained back from selling the bike this one...

Product name: SR Suntour Durolux36 EQ R2C2 Boost 29" 170mm fork - first ride review.
Price paid: Nowhere near list price.
Score (out of 10): 10
Review: I bought this fork as part of a budget build I wanted to do. The problem for me was that I like to dial in all of my...
Not possible, the gears would never have been indexed and your derailleur would have been in your spokes the first time you got anywhere near your biggest cogs. Mech hangers have to be sat in perfect alignment for the gears to index, especially with 11 and 12 speed groupsets, which is why a...
