I'm keen for something to extend my sight VLT. Mate is carrying two 500w batteries on his Merida so my 630w non removable battery is no longer letting me do as many runs.
Anyone point me in the direction of a proven shimano boosted aftermarket system?
Possibly, but to be honest I couldn't be arsed.
Both perform better than I do.
The grip2 factory was a noticable improvement over the grip stock on the VLT. Particularly on whoops and small bumps.
Quite a long steerer on my XL Range, VLT is short by comparison, not sure it would fit. Would be a good experiment though.
Also axle to crown and travels are different so back to back in same bike the same geometry would be difficult to achieve.
I was thinking of getting a grip2 damper for the...
Thought about it, but it's just a play bike, stock shock gets the job done, although some finer tuning on the comp would be nice, maybe the factory version?? Keen to try a 29er front wheel but I've run out of justifiable spending on this rig.
Have a season of DH and Enduro coming up for me and...
My 160E 36 feels a bit better on my VLT than my 170mm 36 on my Range but I don't know if it's because I ride my Range a bit more aggressively and it's a HSC/LSC damper, compared to my E fork which is a grip2 or if it is the added stiffness. Both bikes are set up with the same head angles, rim...
VLT1
Fox 36 grip2 (29er for 18mm more AtoC and approx 1 degree extra rake over stock 27.5 fork)
Code brakes
Assegai DH tires (not in photo)
Love it.
Biggest ride so far 50km 1700mtr climb ride, exhausted battery and lots of eco setting used. Avg is 1000mtr/30km on trail
Mainly used for self...
Wasn't getting along with the entry Code R levers, just couldn't get the bite/reach/pad clearance I like. I'm way too fussy with my controls. So put on some old favorites. Bled them up and perfect ?
This whole bike is just about perfect now.
Burped the stock DHR landing off a drop into a rock...
Nice, my son is pushing the limits of the 130 fork on my Wifes E-120/800 so I'm thinking of putting my spare fox 36E fork on it.
It has torque caps on the front wheel, I haven't had a proper look but I assume they can be removed, they won't fit in the fox.
No problems with the 2.8 in a 27...
If people continue to disobey the rules, it won't be long before they change the rules, such as reclassing ebikes to mopeds or motorcycles. Then we all lose. It's not as simple as the offender assuming all the risk.
That's all that concerns me, I think the speed restriction are set too low...
Speed can be an issue as here we have shared paths. A 25+kg e-bike sharing a path with pedestrians, dog walkers, children should have enough sense to ride slowly, sadly sense is not common.
I do believe if people keep derestricting bikes it will ruin EMTB, the authorities will reclassify them and we will lose trail access. Tread softly during these times.
It's not the time to have the "it's my $$$ bike and I only ride private property" attitude, because we all know that is BS.
I don't have sentimental feelings towards bikes, I enjoy them, enjoy the rides they take me on, but when something new interests me it's time to move the old one on.
My current collection.
Awesome.
I'll be helping out, as well as riding/guiding.
Part of the Life Of Bikes crew. Led a shop ride at Silvan this morning, it was very hot.
Next weekend the weather for Mt Buller is looking perfect.
Fork was great. Definitely an increase in traction and dampening control.
Took it down my local trails, jumps, tech, lots of drops and lots of very rough DH sections with whoops and braking bumps.
Less chatter and more control on the brakes. Slightly slacker head angle wasn't really noticeable...
