I have two Novatec XDS642SB rear hubs, 142x12 and 148x12.
The 142mm has 84 Engagement points with the 42 tooth ratchet -probably by this: "This hub uses the X4 freehub which has 6 asymmetric pawls (3×2) which gives a 4.25-degree Angle of Engagement and 84 Points of Engagement"
But the 148x12 is...
Hi, practically, POE is meaningless for e-MTB. the Engagement angel is determined by the motor!
the only difference is the sound while free-hub is free :)
Hi Doug, I had the same problem with those Bontrager LINE 30 COMP wheelsets. So I went to the shop to mount the tire over. I asked the mechanic why I couldn't do it and he explained: "During the second edge mount on the rim you MUST locate the rest of the bead on the LOWER CENTER of the rim...
Thanks, I figured out why I felt something was not as before ... It wasn't!
The shop update the software to the standard "Tour = Toure +" Instade off "Tour =eMTB lite"
This is a "TREK specific" option - But it can apply to any Bosch Gen4 (If you can use a Trek dealer to do so...)
This is much...
You are correct, Mikerb, But I'm on the Trek rail, which comes equipped with 170mm.
The motor adds torque by sensing the rider torque on the crank (as far as I know, anyway)
So, the 165mm rider input is lower than 170mm, and the Software adds less supporting power...
Hello,
Bosch offers to select two Crank through the SW update :
The new Performance Line CX Package
>=170mm <=165mm
I just changed the cranks to 165mm on my Rail 2021.
Did someone do the same AND update it in the software?
Is it any different? For good or bad?
Cheers,
It's quite an old thread, but I did an interesting test with 11s and 12s mixed components.
This might be the best cost-effective for many guys out there.
I will "test-drive" it later and update from the singles!

BTW, the Test made on Trek rail 9...
Hey,
I have 2500km .
The 2nd chain is 0.75% already ! - Clean & lube it every ride.
Using Genuine SRAM GX Eagle chain. I don't know the reason .
I wonder if it causes by a worn chainring.
Any idea of the estimated lifespan of it & how I can check if it is still fine?
Cheers.
Hello,
did someone measured the Outer Diameter of the spring?
I didn't get the kit yet, but planning something else then the PVC sheet for my ZEB…
Cheers,
Hello,
Off-topic (or not).
Do you lose travel by moving to coil shock (with the same claimed stroke) due to the rubber bumper?
It is never squeezed to Zero...
Cheers,
Hmmm...
400k in 8 weeks is a good score for a "weekend warier".
But unfortunately, in the current bike industry, even buying a new one is not a good option.
I asked my LBS (TREK dealer) to sniff around for someone who is looking to swap from Large to Medium.
Until then, I'll live with it...
