Part # 1: Orbea Rise - Upper Linkage Axle and Bearing Service

4300km in and those bearings are proving a touch difficult to remove 🤦‍♂️

Back before I switched some bits over (and it was sunny)

Is the orbea Rise suspension progressive?

I’ve got one here (rebound has blown on it) and did have it fitted, but I do prefer a coil shock which suits the majority of the riding I do over Dartmoor.

Is the orbea Rise suspension progressive?

That’s incorrect, you can (if you search around) find a shock from a 2015-2017 trek slash that is 210x60mm, this is a direct bolt on with no mods needed and gives 152mm of rear travel. Typically this would be a rockshox monarch rc3.

Is the orbea Rise suspension progressive?

I’m about 175 all kitted up and I’m happy with 450 on a fox sls, I do also have a 500 sls but found it a bit too stiff. Conversely on a cane Creek Valt progressive spring I used a 450-550.

    replacing brakes

Saints are the most reliable brakes I’ve ever had, great at instant power, I’ve put them on all my bikes apart from the rise as I can’t afford it at the moment 🙁

    Flats or clipless?

I ride both, I have mallets on my DH/Enduro and trail bike, and Vaults on my 4x and Jump bike, and the wife won’t let me put clips on “her” Rise 😂

Orbea Rise - How well does it perform on bigger jumps/drops?

Handles jumps and drops fine, I even tested it off a 8ft to flat, made about as much noise as my ankles :)

Pretty sure I saw a unicorn riding one with a box of cassettes on his back last night….

Is the orbea Rise suspension progressive?

One option would be to run the shock upside down with the reservoir sticking out the side like a Pole bike, or I could machine the clearance properly rather than filing it. I’m pretty sure that the yoke is a fairly inexpensive part to replace if I had to.

Is the orbea Rise suspension progressive?

My latest experiment, it’s an old dhx Rc4 222x70 that I have shortened by 12mm with an internal delrin spacer, should give approx 150mm travel on the rise.

    replacing brakes

To save all this hassle, you can just switch the two pot callipers to the m520 4 pot callipers, then you don’t have to switch any hoses or levers.

Is the orbea Rise suspension progressive?

I’ve switched to a fox sls spring on my db inline coil, the Valt Progressive spring is about 2mm larger on diameter and was just catching the frame on full compression, this is on a size Medium.

Forestal Siryon 2021 Edition One - Owners Thread

most people are running the Rise with 150 or 160mm fork and it’s also quite easy to run a slightly longer stroke shock for 150mm rear travel, it’s definitely not XC oriented, when you consider that most 29er enduro bikes are anywhere from 150-170 rear travel .

    Orbea Rise range experiences

80kg kitted up, med rise with coil Shock and enduro wheels with inserts. 57miles yesterday, 15 upto dartmoor used 1% then 28miles around and left for home with 35% showing. Was shattered going home and used mainly trail with a bit of boost for the hills. Battery went into safe mode (eco) about...

Is the orbea Rise suspension progressive?

That was me, I have an old Rockshox Monarch plus rc3 from a Trek Slash, had a proprietary size of 210x60 and had no issue with clearance etc. Currently running a 210x57 (2mm spacer removed) can creek db inline coil and 150mm zeb (might go 160mm)
