Does Canyon Customer Service disqualify the brand from consideration?

As I believe I reported, the European experts at Canyon already weighed in and said it was not possible on this model fork, despite Canyon's advertising copy that said it was. I believe Canyon's advertising a 180mm rotor was referring to models that used a different fork. I have little...

Does Canyon Customer Service disqualify the brand from consideration?

Unfortunately, it looks like the carbon forks on my Canyon Grail: ON CF 8 eTap are designed natively for a 140 mm disc so those adapters will not get me to a 180 mm disc. I would love to hear differently, as I already bought a 180 mm centermount rotor. The bike came with an adapter for the 160mm...

Canyon after-sales making me consider switching

I can't speak for the UK, but here in the U.S. you get a much better bike for the same price. In the case of my Canyon Grail ON CF 8, there was nothing available like it, from any manufacturer, at any price! It's super fast, light and versatile and has a great ride. I've beat it up at high...

Canyon after-sales making me consider switching

I didn't know there was still such a thing as a telephone number that wasn't toll-free these days! Unless you are talking about a toll number in the sense of calling up one of those sex phone talk toll lines. Is that what you mean by "pay number"? That Canyon is charging you to talk to them?

Poll: can you balance on one foot with eyes closed?

Only if I've had about 3-4 beers to stabilize my inner ear!

Canyon after-sales making me consider switching

I can't answer your model specific questions, but I bought a $7K Canyon gravel ebike, got it in January and experienced atrociously slow and bad customer service, I couldn't believe how bad it was, it would have been comical had I not actually needed the help, but it would regularly take weeks...

Do's and Don'ts for e-bike battery care. What do you do to keep your battery performing at its best?

The temperature of the battery doesn't matter much after a ride. It's mostly before the ride and when charging. During a ride the battery is unlikely to become too cold unless you stop using it.

Do's and Don'ts for e-bike battery care. What do you do to keep your battery performing at its best?

The battery will stay warm enough if you are discharging it quickly enough, say over the course of 2 hours. If you stop a lot in cold weather, the battery is going to get cold, even with insulation. Insulation could delay it a bit but not for hours. I think a good strategy is to start with the...

Does Canyon Customer Service disqualify the brand from consideration?

I really wanted to like Canyon's direct to consumer business model and thought I was a good candidate to be a regular customer because I do my own bike work anyway and typically don't need or like the hand-holding of a local bike shop. But my experience with my first (and probably last) Canyon...

Do's and Don'ts for e-bike battery care. What do you do to keep your battery performing at its best?

I doubt the final 100% charge voltage is a reliable indicator or battery degradation because it's dependent upon the programming of the BMS and would vary from manufacturer to manufacturer. Also, I doubt if the peak voltage is linear with degradation. I think if the manufacturer doesn't include...

How do you secure your bike at home

Exactly! Thieves can't ride a bike anyway because the waist of their pants is always below their bum cheeks. Makes it too hard to swing their leg over!

    Charger damper problem

You asked if you were wasting your time with Sprung Suspension and Steve replied that he recommended taking it back to the original retailer. I would say that's an answer to the exact question you asked. 🤷‍♂️

Do's and Don'ts for e-bike battery care. What do you do to keep your battery performing at its best?

You can't. But I wouldn't sweat the details, it's all about whether it has enough capacity to keep you happy.

Do's and Don'ts for e-bike battery care. What do you do to keep your battery performing at its best?

That sounds reasonable and, although it's splitting hairs, I don't think discharging it to 15-20%, over multiple rides, is necessarily something to shoot for. It's probably better to just charge it back to 70-80%, even if you've only discharged it to 40% and you know you could squeeze one more...

I think there is a taller documented Sitka Spruce in California: https://www.monumentaltrees.com/en/usa/california/delnortecounty/4462_redwoodnationalpark/52922/ I visited an amazing Sitka Spruce forest outside of Sitka, AK between fishing openings. It left an impression because every tree...

Do's and Don'ts for e-bike battery care. What do you do to keep your battery performing at its best?

If I noticed my battery losing capacity, I would fully charge it and take it on a long ride. eBike manufacturers are not very good about providing the end user with good diagnostics because that could increase their warranty expense. I just go with a top tier manufacturer and don't worry about it.

Do's and Don'ts for e-bike battery care. What do you do to keep your battery performing at its best?

I don't know the temperature of the room where you charge your eBike, but it's actually good for the battery to be a little warm, rather than a little cool, when charging. Sure, heat is the enemy, but so is the cold. Ideal cell temperatures for charging are around 80 degrees F. Also, the BMS...

Warning: More boring tree stuff! Yeah, but I never said it wasn't a fir, I said it wasn't a Douglas Fir, which is not really a fir tree at all (which means it is not a member of the genus Abies, as all true firs are). Other "slang" names are Douglas Pine, Oregon pine, red fir, red pine, etc...

    Trail Tool Time

Warning: Lots of boring tree and chainsaw stuff follows, mostly unrelated to eMTB, don't read! Yeah, tree species are tricky without the cones and needles to go by. There are around 6 different recognized genetic varieties of Douglas Fir but, as far as I know, the differences are relatively...

    Trail Tool Time

I would get the 6" bar. I didn't even know they offered an 8" bar but that would reduce your battery run time and, while it might be useful in a pinch, it wouldn't be worth the hit to the battery life the other 98% of the time. And, if you need more than 6" of bar, it's the wrong tool for the...
