Yes it looks like they’ve cut out a section from the back plate to allow the bracket to be angled towards the front of the bike to sit higher up over the larger ring.

Here you go! When you identify the hack maybe you could let us know? I’ve never seen it in factory form as it was done when I picked up the bike.

Mine is still the factory guide, but slightly modified by Berkshire Cycles when they fitted the 36 ring.

I think only the Praxis one is a straight swap the others like my Hope one require new bolts.

I’ve got a 36 hope front ring on mine and the chain guide is fine.

Torque sensor probably, that’s what tells the motor when to apply power.
