What did you buy your ebike this week?

Quite a few riders have missing front teeth or dental implants from crashing. Sam Pilgrim, Sam Reynolds, Danny Hart to name a few. Eddy Masters knocked one of his out while racing downhill earlier this season, no crash, just a hard landing.

    Reign 2022 rear mudguard

That looks like a good solution. Similar coverage to a Mudhugger but the ability to easily whip it off when it's not needed so that your bike doesn't have to look hideous all the time (stated as someone who has a Mudhugger on one of his bikes full time and acknowledges that they're ugly but very...

    Brake pads

I just fitted some of the Uberbike E Matrix (ebike specific) pads and I don't think they're as good as the normal Race Matrix pads which I've always found to be decent for the money. Maybe they'll last better but I'd sacrifice longevity for a bit more bite. I have some normal ones in stock so...

    Pic of the Day

An iconic spot in Scottish mountain biking! Unfortunately this place kicked my ass today, fortunately I'm battered and bruised but largely undaunted! 😉

What did you buy your ebike this week?

Beautiful wheels. Be careful with those rims around rocks though. I had Nextie carbon rims on my fat bike and smacked the rear on a rock, I thought it was just cosmetic damage but the rim delaminated and ended up being scrap. Moral of the story is have a really good look if you hit the rim, if...

Smaller chainring on 2022 Reign for better ground clearance.

I've ordered a Praxis 34t ring to try, I'll let you know how much difference it makes once it arrives and I've tried it. It won't make any difference to the cut off, that's governed by the wheel speed and will still be the same. It will lower the gear ratios slightly but that doesn't bother me...

Smaller chainring on 2022 Reign for better ground clearance.

Not very much but it'll only need to be slightly smaller to mean that it's no longer the lowest point. I think I'd rather bash the plastic skid plate on the bottom of the motor than have that force transmitted into the bearings in the motor via the chainring.

    Reign 2022 rear mudguard

I have Mudhuggers front and rear on my fat bike, in terms of function they're next level but they do look pretty hideous. Fat bike tyres throw so much mud at you that I felt it was a worthwhile trade off but I'm not sure I could bring myself to put one on the Reign. That being said, the chopped...

Smaller chainring on 2022 Reign for better ground clearance.

I notice that a few folks have fitted smaller chainrings to their Reigns but I was wondering whether anyone has done this for increased clearance rather than gearing the bike down. The standard 36t looks to protrude below the bottom of the motor and I've had a few chainring strikes while riding...

    Reign 2022 rear mudguard

Hi Lee, I'm pretty sure that it's the middle sized one ( I already had it lying around from another bike). To be fair, Porcupine's version looks longer and would give better coverage so maybe that or the XL RRP would be a better option even if you had to trim it down to fit at the chainstay end...

When you pass 50 . . . You are an old fart, so let's see your ride!

I'm only 58 and was going to wait until I turned 60 to get an eeb but then I thought what am I waiting for? Loving my new Reign E+1, already had it at the Golfie to ride some steep stuff but the latest ride was a bit more relaxed and quite scenic!

    Reign 2022 rear mudguard

I've done the same as Porcupine but used a front RRP Proguard (front mudguard). It fitted straight into the rear triangle of my 2022 Reign E+1 size large, the only modification was to drill two holes to cable tie it onto the brace at the bottom of the triangle (behind the motor). Pretty sure a...

New Praxis chainring time - help

I'm wondering whether to change mine to a 34t to increase ground clearance a bit. It looks like the 36t extends down lower than the bottom of the motor and I'm pretty sure I've decked it out a few times rolling over logs etc.

What did you buy your ebike this week?

A 220mm front rotor, adapter and pads and a cheap pair of 38mm rise bars to try out. My bike came with 20mm rise bars which I'm finding a bit low, I suspect I'll end up with 30mm rise bars and will probably splash put on some Renthals eventually but I decided to experiment with the budget ones...

Where are you riding this weekend?

Got my first eeb on Wednesday (Giant Reign E+1), rode at the Golfie (Caberston, Innerleithen) yesterday. The eeb handled it well although it's not as flickable or poppy as my conventional bike but the motor was definitely a welcome addition climbing back up to hit the next trail. Did NYNY...

    Best water bottle cage?

Just as an example, not suggesting that you buy from that shop. Fidlock Twist Universal Base Magnetic Bottle Cage Mount | Bikester.co.uk

    Best water bottle cage?

Yeah but you can get the strap on bases though.

    Best water bottle cage?

Another vote for Fidlock from me. I have them on all my bikes and have 450ml, 600ml and 800ml bottles (which I use depending on conditions) and a tool bottle thing on my gravel bike. Note that the bigger bottles won't fit on some bikes, I can only get the 450 on my Orbea Rallon. They are by far...

    Help! Front/rear brake confusion

I've detached hoses at the lever end on Shimano brakes and not even had to bleed them, they've been fine (whilst refitting brakes to a new frame with internal cable routing). Just be careful and try to make sure that the hoses don't drop down when they're uncoupled. Also definitely don't pull...

    Unanswered Rotor change

Cheers dude. I've not even got my ebike yet (should be here next week) and I'm already thinking about upgrades. I should probably ride it as it is for a while first and see how the standard 203/203 rotors cope.
