Sheesh, seriously, if I had known these things have such a short life (short being anything < 10,000km) I would not have bought an ebike. I think it's sad that after all my research, this is the first mention I've seen of this. Thank you again zimmerframe for bringing some reality into view.
Awesome idea zimmerframe. I really had no idea that ebike motors were so short lived! My plan was to do as many k's as possible because of battery deterioration. The findings are really quite poor.
has anyone tried one of these on a 12 speed? I've looked through the questions on ali express and the few that ask this question get both yes and no answers.
I have a merida e140 Ltd (2020). I really like it. I live in steep country so I probably ride 30% up, 30% down, and 30% undulating. Some of it's purpose built track, a lot of it is wild and rocky, and just steep. I love the bike, but then most people do love their bike. Designed as a mullet...
I have a mullet bike. 29 x 2.5 on the front. Both assegai (current) and dhf (recent past) were at 16psi - seems good, both with tubes, no flats. The rear is 27.5x2.6 is weird. DHRII seems to need 21 with a tube, 23 tubeless. I tried the dhrII at 19 when it was first tubeless. It felt too flat -...
I keep nothing on the bike. I like it light and simple. I'm usually relatively remote when I ride, so I have a bit of gear. I use a daypack. 500ml water, tool kit, pump, spare tube, links, etc. Nut bars, emergency kits. Light top. It's probably about 2 - 2.5kg.
Having a small torque wrench is handy. Also an adapter for that torque wrench and the necessary bits your bike uses (torque bits? hex bits?). And some thread locker - there are different brands but they generally work on thread diameter - smaller diameter uses a weaker loctite.
Ahh, thanks for that. I would have read it but not understood it as load - I think of watts as power. Very impressive. I often think of that skinny little chain when I'm standing on it, cranking hard over something.
Yeah, I generally hit the limit of assistance then give up pedalling not long after that :ROFLMAO:. On my acoustics I'm often pedalling up to 40km/h (mtb's and with the assistance of gravity). Beyond 40, I'm usually in the wing position flying down a hill.
I was impressed with that article, and it did surprise me. A huge difference in longevity in favour of the high end 12x chains over 11x, 10x etc. I was thinking on it later though. I believe that most wear (stretching) is due to load. If you live in a hilly area I think your chain will stretch...
Ok. I really didn't think it was possible to pedal in 12th and still be under 25km or 32km / h. I'd probably get to 10th, maximum, I haven't yet. It was arrogant of me to assume others would have the same problem :). Indeed, it could also be my bike setup as well.
28 spokes on the trek for a heavier bike etc. The only broken spokes I've seen on the trail were on 28 spoke wheels, admittedly from Giant. Merida ebikes have 36 on the rear - this seems logical. I'd go the orbea :) I should also acknowledge, the 28 spoke thing could be very well implemented - I...
I used the custom profile. Eco down to med (was high), Trail down to low - I think it was medium - it's different in different profiles. I did this with etube app. That suits me. Generally I'm on eco. I use trail for very steep technical climbs - any more juice and I think I'd lose traction. I...
I ride in steep country. My bike came with a 180 rear rotor. I tend to use the rear brake more; mostly while letting the front off so that the front wheel can roll over stuff, also trail braking. I've ordered a 203mm rotor and a 180 - 203mm adapter :). I also bought some rare earth magnets - 50...
Thanks zimmerframe (awesome name). All I want to do is have all, or at least most, of my gears "usable". It seems pointless having 12 gears when you predominantly use 8. I think, especially with ebikes, they could have come up with a better cluster range, say 45-14 or 51-14. I wonder if anyone...
Just been reading through the st unlock manual. It's strange; he has the entry for the chain ring and smallest cluster gear. You can choose mechanical or Di2. It could just be for information? I imagine the Di2 would communicate with the system once the system knows it's there? For example, the...
This guy is Australian, but still reviews stuff that is available all over. I think he is your height too. I know he reviewed the merida e160. He is pretty straight forward - looks at the specs, geometry etc. There are some definite good easy to make recommendations - for example, here in...
