I've always serviced them in time, it's just the cluster side shows less grease, or grease in worse condition. I have never had to renew bearings. Usually the disc side could be left, but I do them because of possible contamination when removing axle and exposing the bearings.
My concern here is that this might be the beginning of the end of our current ebike freedoms :( How many would sneak these in where our ebikes are allowed? Or do these still fit the emtb limitations to be allowed in bike parks and paths etc?
For the rear wheel, that is surprising that bearings on disc side were worn. I only have experience with loose bearings on rear wheels and I've always found that whatever the condition, the cluster side needs greasing earlier than the disc side.
I have been pro active and wrapped something like gorilla tape around the frame and battery cover. I don't know if it is an issue with my model bike. I also put some rubber padding on inside of the cover, about an inch square, to give the battery mounts some more support. The padding is located...
I went tubeless for the first time ever, just on the rear as a learning thing. The rear tyre had about 300km use. I cleaned the bead and inside the rim with isopropyl alcohol. I was able to pump it up with just a floor pump - I worked as fast as I could once I started. Beginner's luck.
it's pretty basic and shitfull setup and has been discussed often here. Shimano in their wisdom have designed it to be useful in only the higher gears, which is really back to front. If I don't make it up a hill it is very steep and loose and I'm already in my lowest gear. In this gear it is...
I didn't notice a huge change, except for enjoying up hill rides. And clearing stuff on climbs that I couldn't before. As others have said, where I live is perfect for ebike - the climbs are too steep and technical. I don't know that anyone rides them. I did do a 10km circuit here on my...
the top of my saddle level with the top height of the bars. It seems fairly logical and neutral to me and goes back to a book I read when I was starting and hadn't discovered youtube, admittedly probably dated now :D. It seems to work though. I'm conscious of my hands and whether I have force or...
Did you guys see fb? They've answered whining about outing them in public. Read fb. They've asked for your order # or ticket #. Both jump in via fb might have more effect ie give order # or ticket # via fb?
Well, it's good to name and shame, just as it's good to name good business. Bike-components are no good by the looks of it. Hah! I've tried to shame them on FB; you guys could do the same :D. And Pascal Funk, you could change the title of this post to "No warranty support from bike-components"...
I'm the same height as you, and leg length. I've always liked bigger bikes. I bought an xl - but it is really a bit bigger than a large and a bit smaller than an extra large. I have the merida e140 ltd. The frame is the same geo as the e160, but they put a smaller fork on it. This effectively...
It must be leaking somewhere. At this point though it doesn't look like an easy fix like replacing a valve. Finding out where the leak is will only help with the warranty. My concern would be because it doesn't lose pressure while static which makes it hard for them to reproduce the fault. Time...
I just fit a 32th chain ring (down from 34). I had to modify the chain guide a bit - it was hitting the spider. Looking forward to trying it out. It should be better gearing both ends :)
This is really disturbing. I would have thought that bosch or shimano would have been a safe buy. I can't get over how bad emtb is - motors, batteries, speed sensors.
