I'm on an XL 9.8 XT Fuel Ex-e.
There have been a couple of tweaks to the spec including Maxxis DHF DHR combo with Exo plus casing. Tannus armour inserts and. 240mm dropper which weighs a bit more than the stock item.
I'm 107kgs ready to ride.
I love the bike and it rides beautifully up and...
I've had mine 9.8 XT for probably a month now and have made a few amends to it so it suits me.
Changed out the integrated stem and bars, tyres and a 240mm dropper as well as putting 160mm travel at the front. I just needed the front a little higher for comfort.
Early on, I did have two errors...

I appreciate it's a frustrating situation as you'd expected to get what is specced on the bike. No advance comms is not ideal. I reckon they prioritised speed of delivery / getting bikes to shops over full spec.
Also, it's worth noting that the Lyrik fork is the new model with the Charger...
I'm also in Australia and mine turned up without the right cranks like yours. I noticed and they apologised for it.
It took them one week to get the carbon ones on so it may not be a very long delay
Trek Australia might well have known but the LBS literally get the bike and build it. I...
Mine was creaking and clicking like a farm gate as I pedalled.
The noise coming from the carbon cranks / bottom bracket area, but Trek sorted it as they've seen a few come back with the chainring at the old torque spec.
As noted earlier in the thread, this has been updated.
Managed a couple of rides on mine this weekend.
I did get a strange couple of error codes thrown up. Both to do with the battery it seems. Power cut out and no other info was showing on the display.
Channeling my inner IT support power, I cycled it off and on again and it was fine. No other...
Seriously, it's fine. It's an XL frame so they don't make a bigger one. Reach and effective TT are fine and comfortable.
The only thing it lacks is stack height which I can sort out as mentioned earlier.
My legs are indeed very long and it's made Thai boxing great fun! :)
It's a challenge finding bikes to fit I'll admit.
The closest I have found was a Banshee Paradox hardtail but hardly a comparison.
My saddle to BB length is 86cms as I have very long legs. It looks very pronounced on this image but it works.
The nose on this bike is low, and the integrated...
Wouldn't the ability for the TQ motor to provide a similar functionality be a matter of a software upgrade or patch perhaps?
What I'd like to see is Bluetooth connection from the bar mounted controller to the motor or integrated display unit. That shouldn't be too hard to produce should it?
Ok, so of you're on the fence on this bike I can tell you it is superb.
I took my first ride on it after spending a while wrapping it and a couple of tweaks for fit.
Climbing.
The best way to describe it is feeling supremely strong and fit. In low / eco mode it is supportive and subtle.
In...
For anyone looking to get the RideWrap frame protection kit for this bike, I can tell you it's excellent. Exceptional quality and well designed and executed.
It does take time to apply though, but with lots of patience and a slow methodical approach it works out well. In a well lit room with...
I can confirm the RideWrap xl kit is ready and being shipped. Mine arrives tomorrow after a 3 week wait. Was expecting it in a month so very good stakeholder management from them.
If you hear screaming and insistent sighing noises coming from Australia, that'll be me trying to apply it. I may...
It's taking a while. I ordered mine 2 weeks ago and was told it would be ~1 month. So have about 2 weeks to wait.
When I collected mine they didn't have the carbon cranks on it so I took it home with the understanding that when they got the right cranks they'd fit them. That happened this week...
There are some pretty testing climbs on my preferred trails and slogging / walking up them depending on how well I slept / fit I feel gets old really quickly. Feeling cooked and sweating like a racehorse at the start of a descent also isn't the safest way to ride.
I still have my normal bikes...
Hi all, I'm a new Fuel Ex-e 9.8 XT owner, have yet to ride the bike (waiting for the RideWrap kit to arrive) and I'm excited yet concerned having read earlier posts. I'm based in Melbourne Australia so it's a little close to home.
Trek have looked after me in the past which is why I went for...
