If anyone needs more insertion or lower post overall the OneUp 180 is the sweetspot imo. If you believe this source the 180 is actually 60mm shorter in total length while being obviously only 30mm shorter in dropper height.

300lbs including the bike? That's how I'm running a 650lbs spring (Rail 5 XL) and think it's pretty spot on.
It's another shock (Marzocchi Bomber CR) though.
Just a quick update. Software Update fixed it for my drive unit.
Feels a bit different though. When beating it on greenlights in turbo nothing happens for maybe half a second. Launching without knives between the teeth everything seems fine.
I'm still very happy not to wait for a new drive...
When did it get replaced? Did the try updating the software first?
My dealer which managed the first driveunit replacement is a bit far away unfortunately. If I only had to do a software update, I'd go to the dealer across the street (who unfortunately was not willing to help with the motor...

my first Rail 5 2020 Motor has just been replaced in January and today I got a permanent 510 again!!
Similar situation, pulling my daughter in a child trailer had to stop for some seconds, when continuing my ride the error occurred and stayed.
No "warning 510" whatsoever...
You could get the Knock Block 2.0 - at least the cap. The range should be a lot better with it.
But why not completely ditch it?
On my other bikes I never felt the need to limit the steering range. When the fork doesn't hit the downtube, I don't see any need on the Rail either.
But that's exactly the part that is cut / filed off anyway. Don't see any weakening in the cap or headset though.

I don't think you're weakening the system cutting or filing down the chip's tab. The Knock Block cap doesn't get touched at all which has direct connection to the headset.
It's an XL frame, yes.
Do you know if grinding the chip down will work? Of course I could replace the headset, but since it works perfectly fine and I'll need to put the chip back in anyway, I thought that might be an easy solution.

I'm about to install a new fork on my 2020 Rail 5 (Fox 38 Performance Elite 170mm). Just test fitted it to check steerer length, forgot to install the Knock Block chip and noticed the new fork not hitting the downtube (anymore?) (by far - there's almost 2-3cm of space).

Got it out almost unharmed. ?
Actually it was pretty easy using some WD40, a screwdriver for the initial mms and a spatula for the rest.
What really helped was cooling down the steerer tube with cooling spray.
I somehow like the idea pressing it in using the headset itself. Need to take care...

So the original race isn't really a specific one - you can use different 1.5" races from other manufacturers? Any numbers that have match apart from 1.5" tapered?

This may be a dumb question, but I want to install a Fox 38 on my Rail and took off the old Gold 35 yesterday. Apart from a broken knock block top cap the bearings seem fine. I'm not quite sure what to do with the crown race. Seems impossible to be removed. There's a replacement kit from Trek...
If I got Offset Bushing's post right, you would have to replace the 2-part yellowish bushings with standard bushings in order to reuse the spacers on the Rail. Not sure if you can get these in different sizes anywhere.
Offset's kit costs roughly the same or a little less, that's why I ordered...

They definitely need to be replaced on my Rail 5 - currenty getting in the axle needs a lot of force, which can't be right. Should slight right in, I suppose (that's what she said).
Tried to find a suitable tool but I guess it won't be that easy...

Already tried this one. If 156mm of wheel travel is correct (someone calculated 156 for 60mm of shock stroke) I end up at 597lbs for single pivot (which I think is correct).
Please correct me if I'm wrong....

Bomber CR 62.5 on an XL Rail 5 2020 doesn't fit. It's really close but I think it'll hit the downtube when bottom out bumper gets fully compressed - doesn't hit while just putting my body weight on it however.
230x60 will most likely fit. I'm going to travel down using a nylon washer.

The lower spring seat has a larger inner diameter and doesn't sit directly on the shock shaft.
